WA Tech Weekend 22 and 23 Jan 2011

There will be a Tech Weekend the 22nd and 23rd January 2011. Vader (Dave) has kindly offered to host it at his place as he has more space than I do.

This is a two-day tech weekend as there is atleast one major bit of work that will be undertaken and one day likely won't suffice. I will be supplying beverages for anyone who wants to come along, and Dave has offered to run the BBQ too.

Please let us know if you're able to attend and on what days, so that I can organise beverages. If you let everyone know what work you're wanting done as well, it will go a long way to help us help you in getting the work done!

I have the following available in or near my workshop:
Mig welder
Air compressor, inc tools
Torque wrench
car ramps (2 sets)
Axle stands (1 set)
good set of tools
gearbox drain (and fill) plug removal tool
garage creeper
Soldering station
grinder (for Ross, otherwise he may feel left out)
Bench vise
Internet
FSM
and most importantly, a BBQ and a 2nd fridge

I have parking for 3 zeds on concrete out the back, plus we can do work in my garage (1 or 2 cars if needed), plus room for another 4 zeds on the front driveway.
I then have parking for another 8 or so cars around the side, plus we can park on the verge opposite.

In short, lots of tools, lots of room.

Start listing your jobs.
We will be pulling an engine Saturday and installing another on Sunday (same car).

At the moment the only thing we need is an Engine hoist, but I may hopefully be able to buy one between now and then.

hey guys I need a hand with a few things this time around if anyone can spare some helping hands? I don't really like asking as there isn't anything much I can do in return :s More than happy to "man" the bbq and supply some drinks though!!

Ok so a while back ago I had a little accident.... There is some damage to my front bar, and a bend in the side fender, drivers side. I have no idea as to what is damaged/needs replacing underneath. My plan of attack is to remove the damaged stock front bar. While that is off, i'd like to assess all of the damage underneath, and what needs to be replaced. I bought another front bar off chilledpain, and as it's straight from the mould, needs mounting holes drilled. Instead of putting the old damaged bar back on while organising what needs to be fixed under, i'm planning on just leaving the new bar on, unpainted. Then when it comes time to fix everything else, that can be painted properly.

Is there anyone able to/willing to help me with this? I don't want to leave this for any longer as i'm fairly certain it's a serious hazard haha

Yeah I'll be there both days. I have Tools, jacks, car stands and fluids - coolant, brake fluid, oil etc. Oh and kthnxbye, how bad was your accident? was it worse than mine? Did you create a thread re. it? I'm very interested to see the damages. No doubt it can be fixed easily though

 

Should be able to make it down, can bring axel strands, boost leak tester, creeper, fibreglassing gear, orbital sander etc. if that helps, there's no way i'm moving the MIG.

Um I don't really know how to compare it to yours. No thread started as I haven't even looked at it yet. I'm now in a position to finally be able to afford to get it fixed properly.
A lady pulled out infront of me. I was doing 60kms, brakes locked up, and I ended up making contact with her rear wheel. Not enough force for whiplash, but enough to crack the front bar and put a very slight bend in the wheel arch. That's all the damage that is known to me, nothing has been done about it :S
