A huge thanks to Andy and Able for helping out on Saturday, we all lost a fair bit of sweat during that 37 degree day. We did make a lot of progress though.
I fired it up about lunch time Sunday and all was well, no leaks, electrics all correct, firing on all six. No smoke! something I'm not used to. Took it for a drive around the neighbourhood and no dramas, then checked fluids etc, again and all was good.

Unfortunately all of our hard graft was in vain.
Later that evening I headed of down the freeway for a longer test run, no more than 4500rpm, 100km max. Then boom the transmission lost all drive, I backed off on it did then re engage so took the next exit heading for home. I did not make it, the trans progressively lost all drive and sounded like a blender full of nuts and bolts. Had to get it towed home once again.
So that is the end of my Z journey, the car seems to be possessed by some demonic force that I can not overcome.
Feel free to make me an offer I need to end this torment.

Might just be a bad gearbox or something came loose , possibly the linkage arm or the starter motor might not have been tightened up right , don't give up hope, think of it like a difficult relationship, the more work you put in the rewards are much greater in the end.

Oh dude that sucks :( hopefully it's a jammed starter or something !

That sucks, sorry to hear that after all that it all went kapput :(

I might have to sell my Z if you are looking for another thats not possessed by the devil. Only due to news at the end of last week that not rubbering up might mean I need more seats in the car if ya catch my drift. If you are interested in a TT manual slicktop with 83k on let me know.

    Demons exorcised

Ok I don't f#*k up often but this time I did.

What a dick I am, I left the flex plate/torque converter bolts out (knew I shouldn't have had that beer!!). How the hell it had any drive at all is beyond me, I managed about 10km like that. You also would of thought that I would have noticed those 4 very important bolts left over.
The light bulb finally switched on this morning after 24 hours of rage, panic anxiety etc, so it did not take long to resurrect the problem. All seems good after a short drive. Hopefully the demon will take a break for now.

BTW Simmo, well spotted the roof tiles, I was wondering who would be paying attention. On Friday arvo we had a mini tornado come over the top of the house and down the street. Lifted up about 10 of the roof tiles, some landed on the patio roof.
    Was a bit exciting really.
