Forgot to ask, is 20w-50 better than 10w-40 even if i dont race my zed and it has no performance mods ? I dont care about the price, just quality.

    Re website...........

.....Hi:) yeah, it has taken too long to get the Amsoil info., up live on the website, :( but the designer tells me it will be up by the end of this week, at last.:) The 10W-40 is an excellent oil and will do a top job and you don't really need the 20W-50 unless you do track work, but if you want the absolute best go for it;) The Bank Details are:- Suncorp, 484-799. Street to Strip, 500612359. Thanks for your interest.:)

Just received my oil, Thx Paul, how come it comes in different container than the one that is on the website? Is it because its 5L ?

    Your Amsoil..........

Hi Adrian.:) Probably Amsoil put it in a more boring container now to keep their costs down. The flash container one is just for promotional purposes these days I think. The photos on the website would be older ones, back to 2003 I believe. It is still the same good oil though, mate. Better than mothers milk, for our Zeds.:D :zlove:

Was just told that Synthetic oils would be bad for our motors due to the age, what do you make of comments such as this, i was told to use a mineral oil instead

    Hi bigbaz.........

......:) Only thing I can say, is I am biassed towards Synthetic Oils, and in particular Amsoil because of all the tests showing it as superior. Also I am supplying it to make a business profit. :) I use it in my own Zed, my wifes Zed and my 1998 Ford Explorer, 4x4 that tows the Zed to the track. I would like to ask whoever told you that, exactly what are his or her qualifications, what do they mean exactly by bad and old, and where can we look up written evidence of this fact. There are Forum members here in Oz that have been using Amsoil in their Zeds long before I began supplying it, and even before I became a forum member I believe. Hopefully they will see this post and make their comments.;) Before Amsoil, I was using Redline. Also I believe JP from UAS recently made a positive comment about Amsoil among others. TTZ stocks Amsoil as well as Redline. I think if you read up all the technical details on why Synthetic is superior Oil Generally and then why Amsoil, you should get your answers. However, If you talk to Oil suppliers that only supply non-synthetic oils, or only semi-synthetic oils you may get different answers and comments. Why not ask Redline the same question and also Mobil 1. as you have asked me. That's what I would do if I was not sure. That's exactly what I did do before proceeding with Amsoil actually, is talk to all the major oil companies about the synthetic and non and the pros and cons. Including Penrite. No cons came up.:zlove: Fleet uses Mobil1 I believe which is 100%Synthetic. Have a chat to him mate. I believe he was using it even prior to his engine rebuild:)

    Thanks.....

.........:) for raising that. The designer of the site forgot to add, that the Severe Gear Oil does the Manual Tranny AND the Diff. I will have that amended:) You will need 5 x 0.946L bottles for your Tranny and Diff. Forum price for that order would be (instead of $24.00 per bottle) only $18.00 per bottle, Incl. GST, plus freight.

.....Penrite is only semi-Synthetic I believe:)

Hey mate, sorry to hijack your thread, only just realised that this post doesnt come across too well, i was told this by my step father and his point was there was no synthetic oil when the engine was made so it wasnt designed for it so use a mineral, i am doing a bit of research with other oil supplier aswel and have found that mobil recommends there synthetic oil for the zeds aswel, so will be doing a bit more reseach i think, will hold off for a bit with the order until i know what i want but will definitely be getting the sever gear oil off you.

Cheers Mate, once again sorry for the hijack

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

    Hi Bigbaz,

I'll add some weight to Paul's synthetics case ... I don't use Amsoil, but I do use a full synthetic in my Z, and have done since I bought it over 6 years ago. I've done about 160,000k in the Z myself, and my car's "real" mileage would probably be around the 300,000km mark. To the best of my knowledge the heads have not yet come off this motor, the turbo's are all original, and the only mechanical maladies suffered during my ownership are a water leak in a turbo pipe and tired intake cam pulleys. I only run 12lb boost which may help.

I have no problem recommending a full synthetic oil of the appropriate weight in preference to a semi-synth or mineral oil.

    Cheers, Mikey.

Guys, personally i think i would rather a full synthetic which if i do i will purchase amsoil. With doubt in my mind though i would like it cleared before i make a final decision, i will be doing a bit more research and see what i can find out. Once again sorry for the hijack, hopefully i can get it all cleared up and my next post will be the confirmation of an order through you guys, chhers for your response and hopefully we will talk soon

    excellent idea.........

....:) to research bigbaz.:) Just to clarify a very important fact, Synthetic Oil was first in the market in 1973:) Well before our beloved Zed32's:zlove:They came on the market in 1989. Amsoil was the very first Synthetic, followed very closely by Mobil. :) Then all the others.
