anyone how much boost are stock actuators meant to hold?

mine seem to be weak and leaking and after having a nosy I think I can get to them without pulling the engine but maybe not if I go aftermarket and need to make up brackets and crap.

Will be happy if they can hold 15 psi steady, my boost currently drops from around 14.5 to 12.5.

They are not much good past 16-18 PSI

Some better some worse, All depends on how much spring tension is on the wastegate.

If it drops away to 12 its more than likely a boost controller issue

they start opening at around 6 to 8psi i found . when i hooked my air compressor up to them directly...

i was running 15 16 psi on stock everything ,, for many years..
i would go to 16 psi then drop of and hold 15 psi ,,
a lot of people don't like boost spike ,, but i love it , i think it works verry well when spiking.. IMO...... i had no boost control just bleed jets

but yes tech is correct when you go to 15 psi then back to 12 psi , i would imagine you having something wrong with your boost control ..............
a lot of boost controllers are verry verry shit ( you can take that to the bank )

you wont pull 18psi that holds strong to redline on auto turbos.

FORGE ACTUATORS MAN... they are the serious deal.. choose the spring rate.
you can usually go 10 to 14psi over the base spring...

i have the 18psi springs on my hks turbos now:D:D:D:D

hks actuators are about half the cost.. if your upgrading turbos upgrade the actuators. stock ones are ok for stock levels..

also change your actuator lines if u are chasing a solid boost level. the stockers are FULL of restrictors. both before and After the safety boost solenoids. makes a big difference 2 the boost hit and consistency on stockers:D:D

yea replaced the actuator lines with the rebuild, also replaced my turbotech with a profec b, should have tested the actuators before, had them hooked up to a compressor, they start opening at 5 psi and when i stop pumping they lose like 1 psi / second.

was thinking I could get some stockies and make the rod adjustable, like I planned to do with engine out but do Forge have ones that fit without custom brackets?

I agree about boost spike, or at least boost drop as long as it's consistent as it allows you to go a higher boost that drops to a safer level as rpms climb, in my case before my injectors max out. :)

Have you got the stock actuators on BB core turbos? If so the rods are too long. If you can get them off, then drill a new hole in each actuator rod so there is about 1mm of metal between the old and new holes. Then you should be easily able to get 15 psi or more PSI using your EBC.
