I've had this vibration since I first bought the Z years ago, have thrown money at lots of things including tail shaft, bushes, ball joints etc.

I found that it just about goes away when I switch out my heavy 17" wheels to stockies so you'd think that it was a prob with my wheels, well no.. I had them repaired/straightened, new tyres and balanced about 4 times, they seem good.

So I don't know if the different weight/offset could be the difference, possibly creating some kind of harmonic vibration, maybe the wheel bearings are on their way out but only noticeable with the heavier wheels. I dunno, I just wish I could locate the problem rather than replacing everything til I find it.

The only thing you haven't replaced is the engine... perhaps the V8 burble will counteract the harmonics with destructive interference so that it eliminates the vibration :)

Can't spend more money on turbo upgrade or V8 conversion til I get rid of this vibration cos it'll still be a turd to drive.. maybe a powerful turd, but still a turd.

I think what I need is to find someone with another Z (that runs) and see if they get a vibration with my wheels on their car.

so it still vibrates in nuteral while rolling at speed ? if so its not ur engine

It is possible what you said that the offset on your wheels have ruined your wheel bearings

Mike how big are the wheel spacers that ur using? could they be a contributing factor?
*I don't think so, but just throwing it out there if you're already looking at rims*

btw, I couldn't notice the vibration when u'd take me for a spin in it, so how can it be a turd to drive? maybe ur focusing on it too much and making a mountain out of a mole hill
    ignore it :)

They were 5 mm but haven't been using any since I grinded the points off my tie rods.

It isn't there til you hit 60+ kph, then I hear something vibrating in the cabin in a kinda slow pulse, can't really feel it.. at higher speeds that's replaced with a pulsing growl coming from the back somewhere. It's annoying when I get into my $1200 piece of crap barina and it runs nice and smooth at highway speeds.

and.. after replacing the rear wheel bearings the vibration is finally gone..

what a chore that was too, I think I'd rather pull and refit my engine than do those again.

    ahhh..

are you spacers hub centric? ci had normal ones and had a hell of a vibration issue, dam scary aswell and they were only 5mm one

naw, got no spacers on the rear anymore..
