Guys i am selling my zed , after visiting 5 mechanics and noone being able to tell me what is wrong with it (If anything) i am starting to beleive it is running fine and low power was caused by a number of things including safety map, and o2 sensors not working but anyways i am selling it. The zed is for sale as is and as a zed with no known problems due to the fact i cant find them and no-one else can. I am going to start over with a zed that i will check out a lot more thoroughly and with a zed that is known on the forum, this may take a while but i can wait. My car has picked up a lot over the last 2 weeks and is making more power than it has been before. Every mechanic i have taken this car to there theory on what is wrong with it has been proved wrong and i have picked up on a number of mistakes made by all of them. I urge people to be very careful in picking there mechanics and to get a datascan cable and check your zed regularly as many of the mistakes made by the mechanics i have used were because datascan was not used even though they had the facility or when it was used it was not used properly (One mechanic had it hooked up while my car was on the dyno (no not the dyno day a different mechanic) and said my timing was out but failed to check the ecu for errors and the timing was out due to an error code causing the ecu to revert to a safety map) Sorry for the long rant but i will still be here but might not be in a zed for a little while as i will be waiting till i get a good one and until mine is sold Mine is advertised on carsales of anyone is interested but please do not post interest here as this is not a for sale post however i can be contacted via PM Cheers Guys Bigbaz
It all depends on how soon my zed sells and what is on the market at the time, i have decided that i will buy from a forum member as they are generally enthusiasts and more well known cars. But it all depends on when i sell mine and how much i get for it

Ive been looking at that and have spoken to Benny, problem is i need to wait until mine sells so anyone with money before me will get it, even though i work in a lending firm and could get the money very quickly i do not want too many cars i already have two in NZRFS need to offload before i go and buy more

Mate... I was gonna mention this before, but got lost in the madness that is work... I live on the north shore...I don't mind taking a quick once over of the car and maybe shed some light on your problems your having...theres nothing really new as far as a problem goes with zeds...same shit just different car. Just need to know what to look for. Like I said your 20min away, and I'm happy to lend an oppinion, or a fix.
Very Odd Well something very odd After a nice quiet cruise around sydney tonoght i noticed my zeds issues have taken care of themselves no longer does my car feel like a heap of shit after 4krpm. My theory so far is as follows. Dyno Day My car could not handle extra power of 14psi, i was told this was due to my spark plugs being 1.1mill gap and they should be 0.8mill Other Mech Had plugs regapped butwhen the car was dynoed, the mechanic had forgotten to do an error scan on my car, the car had an error causing it to revert do a safety map but as my safety boost solenoids had been removed the car was trying to run 10psi in safety map and hence running rich and not maing power and detonating due to the timing being retarded by the safety map, this of course led the mechanic to beleive the timing belt was wrong when in fact it was the ecu that was causing the timing to be that way I had not given my car any juice and have been granny shifting and not venturing too far beyond 3000rpm due to the supposed issues with my car but after a test run tonight as it was dry and cool so perfect conditions for cruising the car is running fine. I cannot explain the varying compression readings but can only assume that as my car is running the best that it has ever been at the moment and making significant power that it is alright. The car will still remain for sale and i will continue to monitor its moods but today she is running spectacularly
Dude isn't this a bit misleading given the fact you're selling is it runs like shit? I have a bunch of sympathy for you and your situation BUT is misleading another buyer really the answer??

mate yeah understand completely and i would love for you to check it out i can come to you if you like, i cant spot any flaws anymore other than the bodywork that needs doing and a afew otehr aesthetic things and that one of my o2s is stuffed i am happy to provide all info on the work i have had done and responses from all mechanics i have decided to take the car to do a power run on a dyno to see if it can make power on there aswel but i can only say what the car feels like when i drive it and i can honeslty say it is running better. As i said i cant explain it and i have deliberately not offered the car for sale here and merely said that i am selling it, while i still own the car i will do everything in my power to troubleshoot (I am still replacing dud o2 sensor) and would like get this car running right before i sell. Correct me if I'm wrong(and I know you will), but didn't all this paranoia "kick-off" as a result of you getting some very confusing compression readings? After several subsequent compression tests, you seemed to get satisfactory results, and now say your car is running better. Why the Hell would you need to sell it on the pretext that there is nothing apparently wrong with it? If everyone sold their cars because "they were running OK", we would be flooded with excellent cars to buy, take home, and stuff up. Then we could spend heaps of money fixing them, and whiz out and sell them again(but only if they were running better). One thing you need to accept Byron, Sports cars are like Racehorses, they are "highly strung and need constant attention", but they are a delight to have when working properly(and if they're working properly, DON'T SELL THEM!).
My car was also having some problems with the way it drove as everyone saw that was at the dyno day where my car only made 160rwkw on 14psi due to it breaking down under load, i beleive i have fixed this problem by reducing the spark plug gap, you could tell when driving as in the higher rev range it lost power when power should have been increasing, as i said i have nothing to hide about my car, i would like to look for a car however that has already had most of the major work done as my car currently has not had any of the major zed problems and i dont know when these will be and have been given no indication of when these will / could happen but i would like to spend a bit more money upfront and get something where it may not have as many problems
Would just like to add my reasoning for not advertising the car here is due to comments like this (Not having a shot so please dont take this the wrong way) i would like to show the car to a few forum mebers and get there opinion of the car before i do this, i consider you guys my mates and do not want to sell you a dud car, although i dont think it is my 4 months of zed experience i dont feel is enough for me to say its fine and have everyone just beleive me after the problems i have been having and as i said would love for a few people to take a look at it and tell me what they think, i am not asking for an endorsement of my car an dont expect it but before i advertise here i would like to know with a bit more certainty than my own personal opinion which is slightly biased as the car is up for sale as you said Cheers for you support Bigbaz
I wish you the best of luck mate, but the amount of money you are likely to lose when you sell your Zed, plus the extra you will spend on finding a more suitable one, would more than likely go a long, long way towards fixing your current car(if and when it needs attention). There are no guarantees re: trouble free driving/ownership, when you by a Zed. Ya pays ya money, and ya takes ya chances! :zlove:
Full credit to you Baz. It sounds like your doing the right thing when it comes to doing your homework before you sell. Your intentions are very positive. There are a lot of people out there that will happily sell a dud car but only point out the highlights. I give you credit for being upfront in your intentions before you advertise.
