    Hey Everyone,

Just finished sorting through my photos (846 in all  :zlove:) from the weekend at the Riverland Auto Expo in Loxton (usually held in Berri). It's a car show by the Riverland Motorsport Club and all kinds of cars support it. We had a very good Z presence with 8 all up, 6 from VIC and 2 from SA (1 wasn't judged though since the owner was a judge himself ;))

Congratulations to Mark (Jedi-77) for placing 3rd in the Japanese Import category and Peter (Wykked) for winning the Top Competion (track car class I believe). Also congrats to the whole team on winning the Top Theme for the day out of the whole show, we did a Halloween them seeing that it was only a week away. Kr4usy has some photos of the trophies Im sure he will post up ;)

Thanks to everyone that came for what was an awesome weekend!! Never a dull moment the whole time we were there, a great bunch of people who thoroughly enjoy their Zedding :D

Here's my photos with a little commentary...

    Riverland Auto Expo in Loxton

Over the weekend some of us crazy victorians drove to S.A for the annual Riverland autoexpo. Normally, this event is held in Berri, but was moved to Loxton for this year (Loxton is about 20km from Berri). Forum members who had cars on display were myself (JEDI-77), WYKKED, red32, RenZed, RedZedMikey, Kr4usy and Wes. Our club theme was Halloween, which is why the cars were adorned with Halloween goodies..:) The show was a success with 150 cars on display and awesome weather (compared to what we have been getting in Melb). The show day itself was 34 degree's, but thankfully we had a shade tent thanks to the WYKKED clan. Our club won best Club display, with myself getting 3rd in the Jap Import category and WYKKED winning the competition category.... All the cars looked great and it was a great weekend away with friends..:) Enjoy the photos below (there are lots). Andrew (Kr4usy) took a whole heap of photos as well, much better than mine, and I'm sure they'll be up soon....

R31 Gagz Harden the F#%K up!!

LOL Mark, we both just simultaneously posted huge threads on the show...Great pics! Yours shows the awesome Halloween props as I did all my Z shots near the end of the day and you've got some great shots of the presentation (though your camera makes my mild sun burn on the face look horrendous ...it wasn't that bad and is already gone, no blistering, peeling or anything ;))

It really was a great weekend though, just like last time at Phillip Island NDSOC Nationals in '07...an awesome event and great people I will always remember...look forward to the next time I can catch up!

    Cheers!

    ooops..

mods, please merge our threads if possible...

Craig, yeah I had forgotten that my camera was set on "vivid" color when taking the shots.... as such, all the colors are exaggerated and you look like a lobster..:) Sorry..:)

    photoshoot...

yeah I just couldnt get up early enough for the photoshoot the next day..:) And the 34 degree heat on show day just took the excitement out of a photoshoot away.... I'll have to tee up a time with Andrew for a photoshoot now that we are back in Melb...

Nice photo's craig, maybe by next years Riverland show you'll have a zed to bring up as well..:)

  6. RedZedMikey

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

You beat me Craig - thought I would just check before posting my own "new thread!" Just as well I did .... a quick cut and paste into this reply instead!

    -------------------------------

    Well, what a great weekend!
We came home with 3 trophies, a lot of smiles, great memories. Thanks to all that made the trip ... we just have to work out how to get more Croweaters to attend this annual event in their own state!

    Attending were:
Vic: Pete and Jen (Wykked and Blondie) ... 1st prize, Competition Vehicles.
Vic: Mark and Judith (Jedi-77) ... 3rd prize, Japanese Imports.
Vic: Renee and Craig (Renzed and R31Gagz)
    Vic: Andrew (KR4USY)
    Vic: red32 (Doug)
    Vic: me (RedZedMikey)
    Vic: ZXTT-1 (Jack)
    SA: Wes and Melissa (wess)
SA: Dave and Mia (dangerous and trouble)
SA: Damian??? I think, (SilverZ), though he missed the main Z32 display unfortunately.
And there was a red Z32 vert in the carpark outside ... anyone here? If so, sorry I didn't get to meet you.

So we all :bow2: to Pete and Mark ... WELL DONE!
Apart from the 2 trophies mentioned above, we (aus300zx.com) won Best Club Display - that's well done us!!!

All the Victorians except me met and trooped up to Berri on Thursday, whilst I was held back at work and arrived on Friday afternoon. A big thanks go to those that assisted with the masking and engine bay touch ups done on Friday, and then again especially to Doug for his assistance in polishing and detailing my Zed after 11pm at night - well above and beyond the call of duty! We met up with Dave and Mia in Loxton for dinner (good to catch up again guys!), and wes rolled in to the caravan park after we returned.

Saturday dawned, and it was off to the showgrounds bright and early. We positioned the cars, choosing a red/other/red/other layout. On this occasion the "others" were dark blue, black, and light black :)p:p:p to the 2 gunmetals!). Cars were given the once over again, how quickly does dust collect??!! We also put all our Halloween theme items in place - well, except for me - mine were still sitting in the lounge room 750km away . Big thanks to Mark for loaning me some of his spares; though at least I had done my info sheet in the Halloween font!

I think the fact that we had a theme, combined with our layout, and the fact that all cars essentially were the same gave us a boost in winning the club display award. However, we did cop a "tsk tsk" for leaving the grounds early, when apparently people were still being charged to come in the gates. That's a big SORRY from us, next time we will stay till stumps!
    :sorry: :sorry: :sorry:

Saturday night saw us all cleaned up (the people this time!), and we went off to the presentation dinner. Good food was eaten, the trophies were collected, raffle prizes were won by some, the judges table was suitably razzed, but we all stayed reasonably straight given the not too early start and long drive we faced on Sunday. And as far as I'm aware, all returned safely, with Doug and Jack having an extra few days in Adelaide.

So now to a few pics; and I'm sure the other photogs will be bringing a lot more to the party :):):) ...

At the Forum Head Office we have Jedi Mark out front, with Jen, Judith, Doug + camera, and Jack all out of the sun.

Lil' Wykked wins 1st place Competition Vehicle for Pete and Jen; great effort, though perhaps fearsome look scared the judges a bit .... see further down :p:p.

Jedi Mark's fastidious maintenance program gave him 3rd place Japanese Import - his car really is a credit to him! This pic is from the run home, i'm sure others will have a display pic to put up.

In this pic, Mark, who is 6'4" tall (not!), demonstrates how much headroom Pete's car has with the new race seat fitted, while Doug shoots from a different angle. Can you see over the dashboard Mark? Didn't think so!

My RZ2 survived the previous week's hillclimb intact - after the Nationals disaster that's a big YAY! The run for this weekend means the motor rebuild now has close to 3000km on it, so it's time for some dyno work soon. It's running rough when cold, and sips the juice a bit heavily, so Bob will work his wonders on the Hi-Tec ECU now that the vacuum and boost leak bugs have been ironed out.

Ummm, where did all the zeds go? It was while I was taking a few pics that I met up with SilverZ, and another entrant chatted me and gave me a thumbs down for leaving early. Hey, we weren't the first to leave, by a long shot!

OK everybody - hatches up! DAVE, I said hatches up!
DAVE ....... oh - you're judging - better not abuse you then ....

Below we have some of the Halloween fun - though Pete's isn't really halloween related, its just that he hadn't shaved or brushed his teeth since Wednesday night! Andrew took his pet cat along, I think he needs to feed it a bit more. And Dougy is trying to put one over his insurance company - if he can convince them a spider ate his motor, he'll get a TT motor as a repacement :p:p:p.

    [IMG] [IMG]

I think Pete and Jen found their next tow vehicle - this Ford F650 will do nicely thankyou! Will make towing a breeze, but no, I don't want the petrol bill thank you ...

There was another Nissan club there - the SA chapter of Skylines Australia I believe. As can be seen from the background above, they were quite close to our group. This 180SX cleaned up at least 3 trophies including best Jap Import, and his wife owns the kitted 350Z below. PUREZED and PURESX, with a GT-R in the garage as well, ya reckon it's plate is PUREGTR?

One of the drawcard cars was Gary Myer's Mustang - travels around doing shows Australia wide. I think he was trying to win "Tallest Motor" and "Lowest Car" at the same time!

So who's in for next year???????????????????????
Cheers, Mikey ... and yeah, it's ttime for a new sig pic :D:D:D.

Then we finally arrived in Berri, after a nice hot drive...so what do we do? Go jump on the trampoline :D
    [IMG]

Some of us had a few drinks and the after effect on the trampoline caused severe indigestion..well it did for me..
So it was time to lie down and relax near the pool..

    Day 2 - Friday 23/10/09
Today was cleaning day, we all went down to the local car wash and gave the zeds a thorough well needed clean..the end result :)

Some of us continued to clean into the afternoon (KR4USY, R31 Gagz and I)..while the others went to the winery for some lunch..

Craig and I had done a few things to the zed prior to Berri..that included some of the following...

Newly painted gloss black calipers + gold hubs, tyre blacking the inside of all wheel arches, installing new wheel studs, new lug nuts + lock nuts and giving the wheels a really good wash while they were off..

Inside included installing new pedals + Craig's Pioneer headunit (as mine was playing up) + chrome pop-in rings + white face dials and re-calibrating them ...

Also re-upholstered the rear speaker covers..

Engine wise, we installed the new COZ stainless steel relay cover + fuse cover, Greddy oil cap, Stillen battery tie-down, COZ sticker, stainless steel bolts, repainted the fan shroud, battery stand + clips and repainted all wiper arms + blades..

A few other things we did to the zed included installing the front bar mesh, polishing + waxing the entire car and screaming expletives when things wouldn't work or went wrong :eek::eek:

Anyway, back to Berri..after cleaning the cars we went for a walk down the street and got some lunch..

...and saw these cute little guys..

Later in the evening we headed out to dinner at Loxton and caught up with some of the SA zedders (only 2 but, but was nice to meet them) :)...

    Pete and Jen
    [IMG]

    Judith and Mark
    [IMG]

    Mikey and Jack
    [IMG]

    Craig and I
    [IMG]

    Dave and Mia
    [IMG]

    Doug and Craig
    [IMG]

and of course "solar glare" Andrew :p
    [IMG]

    Day 3 - Saturday 24/10/09
The day of the show and shine :)...It was a bloody hot day I believe, so hot that I was too lazy to go around and see all the cars..so I'll only post a couple of random ones..but of course not too hot to take photos of zeds ;)...

    A nice 350Z..

The 180sx that won 1st place in the Jap Import Category, was very outstanding!

2nd place in the Jap Import (I believe?)

    and a few random skylines...

Can you pick something not quite right with this one?

    Anyways onto the zeds :D:D:D...

    ...and the spiders :D
    [IMG]

..and what's left of some bugger that tried to steal my car...muwhahahaha..

Later that evening was the presentation dinner, I didn't get any people photos that weren't blurry...so here's a photo of the trophies that we brought home for the club :zlove:

Congrats to Pete for winning 1st place in the "Top Competition" category, Congrats to Mark for taking out 3rd place in the "Jap Import" category...and an overall congrats to us all for winning the "Top club display"...mind you I wont mention how many clubs had displays

    Day 4 - Sunday 25/10/09
Time to head home...was sad to leave, but at the same time I was sooo buggered after getting bugger all sleep for the days we were there, that I was kinda glad it was coming to an end..lol..

No exciting photos here, but a long drive back to VIC..as far as I know, no one had any issues on the way up to Berri...however on the way back Andrew had a bird belly dive onto the bonnet of his zed, then later on we noticed his splash guard half hanging off from the front of the zed (mind you flashing the lights, indicating and waving out the window couldn't get his attention...so I had to jump in front to pull Pete and Jen over )...
I also managed to collect a large tumble weed which half wedged itself into the front grill and was stick up over the bonnet...so I had to pull over to grab that out..other then that no major issues :bow2:

Anyway, in summing up I had a great time at Berri...always great attending zed events and catching up with zedders. Was the first time I had attended Berri and it was awesome, will be going again next year for sure (provided I can get leave with my critical care course :))

Also a little post editing, the individual show winner is not the yellow old school machine but actually the Holden EH in the next photo with the picnic setup.

    Cheers!

Thank you to everyone for a great time away! As always its been a blast spending some quality zedding time with you all. Thanks to Pete and Jen for driving us around while we were there, it really is appreciated!

Congratulations to all the winners, and to those who came close to getting some prizes (both trophey's and raffle's)

I'll post more comments when I'm able to post up my pictures, but I think i'll add a comment on my bird incident....not only did I have the bird bodyslam my bonnet, but on my way home from Bendigo yesterday I had another daredevil bird try to do a low swoop infront of my car, but this time, my car ATE IT at 110km/h!
I'll post pictures of that later too...BUT I dont know why it seems to keep happening, but when I was coming back from dinner with my fiancee driving her car I had ANOTHER bird bodyslam the windshield!
I have no idea whats going on, but I'm going to stay indoors for a few days I think!

Most definitely looking forward to the next major outing for the forum, will be awesome as usual I'm sure!

    Cheers, Andrew

Hahahah..light black, forgot all about that :D...

Yeah I think I would be staying indoors for a few days too...how weird..

Forgot to mention to you Jen, that on the Friday arvo, we also walked into the "Visitors Information" place and it seems that the Big Orange is actually closed, it's crossed off on their tourist attractions..so that's probably why you have never seen it with an "open" sign lol..

Also, a quote from WYKKED from the weekend "Can this trip get any gayer, then it already has"...I'll let someone else explain that one :D

lol...I didn't feel very comfortable jumping up in thongs (I had a feeling they were gonna fall off)...Andrew got a better photo, where I'm actually a bit more off the ground lol

Well as usual it was great to spend some time with the Vic Zedders...And was great to catch up with two couples from the SA crew, pitty we didn't get more time to catch up for drinkies...I am sure one female Zed member was missing her shot buddy...Another female Zed member bought a bottle of what appeared to be radiator coolant and added it to lemonade...LOL :) I on the other hand was very happy to stop in at Banrock Station with a few of the gang and have lunch and a few wines...I really didn't want to come home...it was quite relaxing...But looking forward to next year...PS the Renmark Cara Park looks amazing...Congrats to all who took a trophy and those who didn't, just thanks for coming to support the show, the drive and for being wonderful company....

    Skyline boys not happy...:)

It seems that the Skyline club (SAU) that was next to us on the day got their noses out of joint because we bet them in the club display..:)

"Without a doubt the best looking display at the show, only to be beaten by a bunch of pretty slapper cars that did a pretty homo Halloween theme - in a 'display' that entailed lining the cars up in a singe line".

    SAU Riverland thread

I dont know whats worse..... SAU being sore loses or the fact that they got beaten by a bunch of "slapper" cars..:)

Its a shame really, because they had some nice skylines there... Its just a shame that the quality of the cars does not reflect the quality of the people...

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

It does seem like that ...
I made my "tsk tsk" comment in my first post well after the above was posted, and without having seen it beforehand. Although I chose not to refer to the group that made it, you may be able to work it out now! The only comment I can make is that if the organisers had seen fit to tell us interstaters what "x to y time" was, I'm sure we would have adhered to that. I saw nothing in the entry form, on the website, nothing was posted or emailed to me covering show requirements such as staying till y o'clock. Did anyone that attended receive such info???

Best answer we can give is to go back next year, stay till stumps - and win best display award again!!!

I know, I know. I went and bought a bottle today...I havn't had it in years!

As for the Skyline club, they can call me all the names they like for thinking up a Halloween theme...How childish can you get...If they had have won, I really don't think anyone of us would have stooped to such levels....We would have congratulated them as we would any club...GROW UP

Ahh we did get sent some info with our entrance number, did say show was till 4pm, but I can't remember it specifying us to stay till 4pm...however I thought we all mainly left at 3:30pm, so only left 30mins early (but we'll know better for next time :bash:)

And this is what I love about our forum..we congratulate each other and others, while enjoying each others companying..who cares about the cars
