I was just wondering if anyone knew what size rear sway bushing a NA Coupe RHD takes I'm currently in the middle of ordering new bushes for my zed..and COZ sent me this in their last email: Gonna see if Craig is able to have a look and see for me..but thought I would just ask first in a new thread to see if anyone knew...
You must still be asleep You have an NA and it's not a 2+2 so obviously the 16mm bushings Love, Craig
Not so obvious Craig, there are quite a few different bars for the aus/jap/us/euro cars. Measure it to be safe
Well it's obvious when looking at Coz's quote against Renee's question, the information provided points clearly to an NA bush...if there are Aus / Jap / US / Euro versions though then the only way we are going to know is my measuring it as you said Drz400y, really not answerable via the forum or email if that's the case. Wouldn't Coz have mentioned this though as something else they need to know to ascertain the size bushing required? Anyway, it's a Jap import NA 2 seater with assumed stock sway bars (will have to get under and have a squiz and measure the bushes, is this a measurement of diameter or width?). Cheers, Craig
Just changed mine (2+0 tt) a few months ago. r&e and autobarn both quoted similar price. Heres the write up http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303199 I say take off one of the bushes and take it with you.
Hi Supersonic, Thanks for the article...bit hard to take the bushes with her though as ordering from COZ in the US I'm guessing at 16mm for the NA, these are measured by width as if it was diameter it wouldn't fit over the bolt...but if its radius it could...so can someone please clarify what the measurement is taken from before I get under the Z. Thanks, Craig
Just measure the diameter of the bar, I just happened to have a 16mm open end spanner in my hand and thought of this thread when I was standing under the car, 16mm spanner fitted nicely
Hi Drz400y, So do you measure diameter of the link rod joining the ends of the sway bar to the car OR the sway bar itself (which indicates we are talking about the D shackle bushes per the below pic). But in either case, 16mm makes it too big to be the link rod and too small to be the sway bar itself. So, sorry but can you be a bit more specific in your description. Are we talking about the above D shackle bushes or the below link bushes? Because the article Supersonic posted only showed the link bushes, but from what you are saying it sounds like the D shackle bushes if it depends on the sway bar thickness. And are all the measurements mentioned in Coz's response to Renee going of the diameter of the hole, the diameter of the whole bush or the thickness / width of the whole bush from their flat ends? Just trying to cover all bases as at the moment I have NFI which bush we are even discussing Thanks, Craig
Drz400y, can you help us determine what we are meant to be measuring by answering Craig's question? I don't wanna keep COZ waiting..
You measure the bar it self. A bigger bar needs bigger D bushes. Sorry haven't checked this thread today. Coz's reference's would be the diameter of the hole in the D bush.
Thanks Drz400y, will get under and measure it tonight...I can't say I've ever seen a sway bar that thin before, unless it tapers down to a smaller diameter where the bushes hold it. Cheers, Craig
LOL, even my old stock R31 Silhouette sway bars were thicker ...replaced them both with Whiteline sway bars and bushes later. Cheers, Craig
Just got under this morning, for anyone's future information: 1989 NA 2+0 Jap Import 300zx = 16mm stock rear swaybar. Cheers, Craig
