I put a hose in the top of my overflow bottle to rinse it out a bit, water came out of the hole marked in the picture. Is this normal? Sorry about the pic, this is looking down the neck of the bottle. Is there supposed to be a hose where I have circled it or just an open hole? Hope someone can help, thanks in advance.
    Cheers Fran :)

i dont know where that shot is taken but when the overflow bottle gets too full it will release and dump any excess water that is in it. i cant tell where you have pointed the camera so i cant say.

    Thanks for that

the pic is looking down from the top of the bottle and it is just before it goes into the wheel arch, where the main part of the bottle is.

    No hose, just a hole.....

Haven't you ever noticed it's impossible to fill the overflow bottle ?

No sorry I am a nob, have just been checking the level inside the wheel arch. A friend did my coolant change prior to that. Thanks guys :)

These guys are correct. It is a breather hole to allow the water to enter/exit the bottle without issue, and also to allow excess fluid to drain out under the car rather then into the engine bay in the event the cap releases too much fluid for the bottle to contain.
