Hey guys, I'm 3/4s of the way through changing my battery leads, but I'm stuck on the positive leads clamp on the back of the block.

After trying reeaaaaally hard to jam my hand up to it and only succeeding in taking a few pounds of meat off my hand I had enough and thought ild come ask how others have got to it.

So, what's the best way to get that clamp off? Should I just cut the cable/insulation and yank it through or is it possible to get?

I still think the funnest bit will be replacing the gearbox bolt for the negative lead... Got it out easily enough from the top, but maybe fun to put back in!

Surely this isn't a plenum off job... Being as I've just finished that a week ago, I'm really hoping so.

    No ones got any tricks?

    Leave it off?

Oh I see; changing not refitting.

Get smaller hands. Cut cable. Bend and break. Remove clutch cylinder for better access?

Good idea with the clutch cylinder, may make it easier. Thanks. Would prefer to avoid breaking/cutting it off if i can, but hey, beggars cant be choosers my pop used to tell me

You can get a cable joiner that uses bolts. While not ideal it would do the job if you can get to some clean cable to join it and heat shrink it. Your mrs maybe the best way. You got to just suck it up and ask her ;).

Thanks for the advice guys. Ended up getting it, from about halfway down the transmission, with about 4 extensions and a uni joint. almost a direct shot, if you can get the socket on from so far away. Thank goodness for that. Dont know if the new cable will have that bracket on it aha.

I bought a new harness from carcraze, but the sizing was slightly off,and the positive terminal pulled off in my hand, wasnt crimped on properly. Quick visit to jaycar later, a lug and i fitted a quick disconnecting terminal. Life is going back to normal.
    Thanks all
