A little bit of interest was expressed here http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=302180&highlight=norbar so time to get a real Group Buy thread going...

The Group Buy is for the Automotive range that "offers an ideal combination of accuracy, robust construction, comfort and ease of use. The reversible ratchets on these models are designed with compact dimensions and a narrow engagement angle resulting from the 72 tooth pattern. These features make the wrench ideal for use in the confined spaces of modern motor vehicles and many other applications".

    Features include
    • Accuracy of 3% of reading exceeds all international standards for torque wrenches.
    • Every wrench is supplied with a calibration certificate to satisfy the requirements of ISO 9000:2000.
    • Soft feel handle provides excellent grip even in oily conditions.
    • Handle material and lens resist all chemicals in common automotive, industrial and aviation use.
    • Locking mechanism prevents accidental adjustment of the wrench during operation.
    • Long scale graduated in N.m and lbf.ft allows for foolproof and accurate setting.
    • Supplied in moulded box for storage and protection.

These are not the cheapest wrench on the market but one of, if not the best.

Forum member Simmo from R.E Tooling has offered the following prices. If we get an order together of five or more units he will offer a further 5% discount on the prices below. This is the best deal I have found, better than buying direct from Norbar.

    Norbar Mod 60 3/8dve 5-45 FtLb $283.00 (GB $268.85)
    Norbar Mod 60 1/2dve 5-45 FtLb $283.00 (GB $268.85)
    Norbar Mod 100 3/8dve 15-80 FtLb $283.00 (GB $268.85)
    Norbar Mod 100 1/2dve 15-80 FtLb $283.00 (GB $268.86)
    Norbar Mod 200 1/2dve 30-150 FtLb $322.00 (GB $305.90)
    Norbar Mod 300 1/2dve 45-220 FtLb $363.00 (GB $344.85)

Freight: Freight will be roughly $25 Australia Wide, or $35 for multiple units to the same address.
How to Order: To place your order I will need a 50% deposit. If we have the minimum five orders to proceed with the group buy discount I will forward the deposits to the supplier with the balance payable when your order is assembled and ready to ship. If we do not have the minimum buyers you have the option of proceeding at the prices listed above or having your deposit returned in full. I will be holding funds for the duration of the group buy and will be financially liable for any refunds should they need to be issued.
Timeframe: I will let this run to the 15th September. If we can get five deposits in before that date I can go ahead and start getting the discounted parts out sooner.

Time to pull the pin on this one due to lack of interest.

I went ahead and bought what I needed anyway, and can thoroughly reccomend RE Tooling to anyone else shopping for quality tools. The price from Simon at RE was significantly better (even with freight to NSW) than the price I obtained direct from Norbar, even without the group buy.

So quick plug, http://www.retooling.com.au/ call (08) 8349 5882 and ask for Simon.
