Non flowing injector

What is the consequences of traveling 1000km on a non flowing injector?

#4 cyl missing. Coil pack swapped with #2, same miss on #4 (pulled coil plug and no drop in revs on #4)
Spark plug pulled and checked - all good
Injector checked with stethoscope and IS clicking the same as #2, and #6.
Only thing I can think of no flow of fuel in that injector.
Engine appears to run smooth at higher revs, but burbles on backing off the loud peddle.

Only thing not done yet is a leak down test.

If its blocked all the way it's just a non running cylinder. Problem can occur if its only slightly blocked and causes that cylinder to lean out.

Pull the spark plug, it should indicate if there's fuel.
Leak down tests appear to be gaining in popularity.

Spark plug is dry, with a very little bit of carbon, as though the cylinder was firing at one stage.
The car does get long periods of storage. so thinking it might be gummed up.

If you're really keen and have time on your side maybe you can swap an injector to confirm? Or run some system cleaner through it and see if that helps? Redline injector cleaner is magic if you can get your hands on a bottle...

That is the plan for after Goulburn.
I can only do limited hours on the car (pain).
I have some recod' spare injectors and will try that.
Might have to put your video into practice.

    Pull injector connector

Any sparkly bits on the spark plug? if available checking that cylinder with a bore scope is a good idea before doing too much more testing, as white knight suggested injector issues often lead to some detonation damage

    Nope. no sparkly bits.
    Compression test done 150psi.
    Leak down done. 18%-20%
Confirms, a mongrel injector. Means another plenum pull.
I'll feed it a dose of injector cleaner in a 1/2 tank and see how that pans out.
If I kill it, I'll grab a spare motor got 2 more laying around :D
Then do a full rebuild of that one.

    Thanks guys for the suggestions.

Trade an injector connector with a working cylinder and check again at the spark plug to see if you are getting fuel.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

    Yep, what HE said.
Id pull the injector plug off, kill the cylinder alltogether, just to be sure and drive on long as you like.
As mentioned. Total blockage is good. Partial leaning can grenade that cylinder. So just eliminate any drama and put up with a loss in power and smoothness.

Might be worthwhile running the fuel pump with out the engine running so that if it cleans out you don't go through a lean condition as flow improves

On a side note, what fuel have you been using?

We have been running V-Power on the assumption "more is better"
    Boy, was I wrong!

    Update:
On discussions with other members and the information here I decided to go with the Injector cleaner process, and nurse the motor for the trip.

I had 1/2 a tank of V-Power and I added a (1 dose/tank) bottle of injector cleaner, thereby making it a double strength hit.
We set off for Dubbo and took it very easy on the car all the way. the motor burbled a bit during that leg.
I Filled the tank with Caltex Vortex95 and added a further 1/2 bottle of injector cleaner and set sail for Goulburn.
There were times during cruise speed 102kph that I thought the motor sounded smoother.
During times of climbing hills the motor burbled and it was still missing. :(
We arrived in Goulburn after a 6 hr drive and 3/4 of a tank used with the resolution I was going to do another plenum pull to replace the injector.

The next morning when I started the car to do down town to my surprise I had 6 Cylinders :) woohoo. :D
I put another $20 of Caltex Vortex95 in and the car never missed a beat all day.
On the Sunday coming home, I filled the tank with Vortex95 and the motor ran so smooth all the way home. :D

In conclusion my NA motor is very happy running Vortex95.
It is also better economy than the V-Power. (well for me it is), and better performance.

Thanks guys For your assistance and information.

I still might do the plenum pull and replace the injector just to be sure.

I definitely haven't tested anything scientifically but I've never liked running shell. The last tuner I asked recommends Either Vortex or BP Ultimate.

Since I'm watching Anchor man and in the mood for some journalistic wild speculation I would guess that with the warmer weather Shell have upped their ethanol content for a little octane boost and it upset your system, I ended up with rough ignition the first time I put united 100 +ethanol in

I am definitely converting over to Vortex95
Shell is great in fords, but not so good in Zeds.

I thought all fuel in oz came from Caltex refineries in the end??

Possibly do, but its the additives and blends that make them different.
