A question for all you tuning gurus....Im building a TT motor up for my NA but don't want to change the loom....I will be running an EBC to controll boost, my question is......is it possible to socket the NA ecu and reprogram it to suit the TT engine? Or should I just go aftermarket with the ecu?

for the cost of them these days you might be as well to go for a standalone system. But be prepared for hours of wiring there.......

You are spot on. The N/A ECU and harness can be used with the chip changed to suit the injectors and ignition timing. Boost control is removed in this instance but you have covered this with an EBC.

Total cost to convert, less than $100.

Agree with that! Even piggy backs are a PITA to wire up!

That is a really good way to go.

    Can be done, BUT.......

the converted NA ecu will always run a TT fuel pump at full speed.

I would suggest using a TT ecu, it will extend the life of your fuel pump.

Ahhh yes I have heard of that aswell....NA runs it in 2 different speeds, TT does 3 different speeds...I would be ok with that looking at the huge efforts to change the looms through the whole car (Headache).....and im sure the lifespan would still be ok......I was thinking of doing the reprogramming myself with a chip burner....what programs are people using and where do you get a copy of the stock TT bin file?

    Why change the harness ?

It's a BIG job for no real reason.

The NA harness only has two things missing really :-

    1) the boost solenoid connections (which you don't need when you have a boost controller)

    2) the connection for the oem boost gauge (which you also don't need because you should be using an A/M boost gauge)

Aparently the wiring to the FPCU is different aswell.....so I was thinking just go the reprogram.....because if I go a TT ecu...I will end up reprogramming at a later date in search of the 400hp i want anyhow.

    solution...

you will need to swap out the FPCU with a TT FPCU, and also run an extra wire to run the pump at 3 speeds.... Its not hard...

but I have been running a TT pump at 2 speeds for years now.... and no problems yet...

    Cheers

...or you could go a Walbro as they like being run at full speed the whole time
