bugger, that does suck..... why not just drop a stock tt motor in there anton, i know you said you dont want to go through the whole engine in out stuff again, but if its just a straight swap it'll be breeze.....
Agree with ross. Pulling apart is fun but just think about how much money has been spent into this car. Seriously swaping stock engine isn't a drama at all since you have all the gears. Top of that things can get broken while you are parting out the car, like infil panel, 3rd brake light etc. Sell the items like headlight, wheels, audio gears, boost controller, raditor etc and put back stock. Pull out the engine. Put back a stock TT and start enjoying drive the car.
because a stock engine won't give me the power i was chasing, and if i was going to pull the engine I'd rebuild the one thats there
There can't be too much wrong with it. Busted head gasket or valve issue or something. Wouldn't cost much to fix.
fair answer.....just a shame to see that shell split up is really the point im trying to make, its just so well put together except for that one minor bit that we both know about....
Yeah same Rob, def have the video of slightly south at home, still to this day i think its the largest WA Z cruise? Remember seeing MR TT in its glory days, pretty sure it was my first aus300zx cruise as well.... Will be great to see it restored!, if u need any help im down Anton :zlove:
must remember MR TT is a long shot from the condition it once was.. is starting to show its age now. Grandpa TT
if the paint is still good, plus all the other extras like the headlights, it would make a good base to build from as opposed to wrecking it.
i would say that because the comp test varies so much it would be shitty valve seats. take it TDC and fill plug hole with air and listen for leaks in cylinder with low comp.
cheers chris, how would i go about filling it with air? rag around the air gun blowing into the spark plug hole or is there a special tapped fitting?
i welded a barb onto a plug that i smashed the guts out of. but you could modify a comp tester easy enough
just get it started and running for a while then do another test. Im at kabirs today and busy tomorrow
yeah... Mikey! Yeah I remember it was a big one... 30+ Zeds or something. The meeting at Freo was good...haven't had a meeting there since I think... There were a lot of good Zeds back then as well...and now everyone moves on and different flocks come and go every year...would be good to get everyone who attended those early cruises to come back for a reunion...I wonder if they still have their cars though... Rob.
Yeah, I'm always too late for these things... I guess whoever gets them, I'll have to go steal them in the middle of the night from them...it's the only way now... Rob.
Not sure if I remember correctly or if I've got it mixed up with another orange Zed, but does it have the HKS 2530's in it? If so, how much will you be chasing for them? Hopefully they aren't buggered too... Rob.
yeh still has HKS turbo's I'm going to try to bring it back up to scratch, and if the compression doesn't improve them I am "considering" a rebuild
