To all the WA zedders, im in Perth at the moment on holidays but it looks like i will be moving here in the next few weeks for work. There is plenty of work so why not.

Anywayz what are good areas to live in? SOR or NOR? ive been looking at areas like Victoria Park, Scarborough, Como, etc...
Im looking for something within 20km radius of the city and id prefer an apartment.

Any help guys would be appreciated.

P.S. The weather here is colder than melbourne atm!!! does it get hotter? lol

    hey mate,
awesome news, your definitely moving to a very busy state.

simmo is right, welcome to the state of booze!!

Scarborough is awesome, thats where i definitely want to move to one day. It does get a lot warmer, and if you move somewhere close to the coast, you'll be able to go down the beach for a swim and jog on a perth balmy night.

areyou going to be working in the city? or you just want to be near it?

i reckon NOR but i'm a northy so i'm biased.
are you bringing your zed over?
    cheers
    Jay

    Go West!

I have gotta say that Victoria Park is quite good. A couple of nice bars,a lot of restaurants, supermarkets, fast food etc. Perth is a short trip away and the river is a short walk. Scarborough is great, but id only go there is it was closer to work or some reason like that.

For work/life/price balance, id say you couldnt go past Vic Park, Como, Bentley, St James, Mt Hawthorn, Scarborough, Karriynup or Innaloo

man you named some really dodgy suburbs there

vic park is overpriced and a dump.. there are some nice areas in it though..
st-james.. we're building 5 units there.. have never had as much vandalism and shit stolen from any other site as that site

i used to live there and my car(not my zed) got broken into 3 times.....lovely,bloody lovely.....
most places in perth are pretty good, maybe just rent something for 6 months so you can have an explore, and then find the area you like and take it from there.....
welcome to wa,you will love the z scene over here

While expensive, the best location to try to live is Applecross/Mt Pleasent or surrounding areas IMO. Low crime, nice area, convient to heaps of shops and soon to be right next to the train station.

No he bloody won't Baz - I'll give him some Dockers training ....
Supporting the Eagles only occurs in finals, and NOT when it against the Dockers!

Mate NOR easily. Everything south is just pure swampland. Bit like south africa where your advised in certain areas not to stop at the lights.

Good one Max! You'll love living in Perth. One of my favourite places. Friendly people and guaranteed weather for at least 9 months a year (the winter can be a bit chilly) Nothing you can't handle. None of this 4-seasons-in-a-day bullshit.:p

I used to live down south of the river in the Bullcreek/Willeton area but this was over 20 years ago so I'm sure things have changed a lot. I always liked Freo, mainly because I was into sailing and used to spend weekends over on Rottnest.

    Just do it Max:)

PS Have you checked out if there is a plentiful supply of Cougar???:D :D

    Thanks for the replies guys!!!!

Im back home, for the time being....but will be back in 3 weeks. Perth is awesome!

Im still yet to decide what area to live in, but SOR might be the way to go. Sorry for the delay in writing back but the laptop has been playing up.

Fate: NO my zed is not on ebay....its not for sale lol

BB & RZM Carlton all the way!!!! I even saw the Freos footballers at the airport on the way home......poor guys. hahahaha, but the Eagles might be the team to follow.

Cliff: plenty of cougars there....i even sampled a few 6 packs!!!!

To everyone elsem thanks for the info, my girlfriend and i drove hundreds of kms to every different areas within a 30km radius of Perth metro, if anyone knows someone with an apartment, preferably fully furnished send me a PM please!!!

Go NOR man.... SOR people kinda smell and they look funny :D   LOL!!!

If you are looking within 20kms of the city, i'd go Joondalup. Nice apartments all over the show there.... There is Joondalup Shopping Centre near by, Train station that goes straight into the city, and it's not a dive like Vic Park or any other older suburbs.

Plus you are close to Wangarra & not too far from Malaga so there are plenty of workshops around :)

Oh and beach is only a 5-10min drive and there's a great coastal strip for targa off fun! :)
