Yeah it was a good day all round>>--

drove home VERY carefully for at least 10secs, then let it rip. 241.7 kw - not bad at all, the only thing is that it also did it at 20lbs boost, just a little too high. This is on a virtually stock rebuild too, another great job by Nisport. Thanks Spence and Joe, great job again. Might have to start looking at dropping the boost and getting bigger intercoolers etc etc. Never stops does it.

    Jack.
ps - will post the result sheet when I can figure out how.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

    Hmmmm, interesting.....

maybe they didnt use it on the day paul cos I dont remember any probe being stuck into my intake (wow that sounds wrong). If you look at the pics all the cars on the dyno dont have any wire or probe going into the intake. The only hose that was connected was one that connected to the balance pipe at the rear of the engine which I assume measures boost (TT) or vacuum (NA). But regardless, I agree with you, I found arthur to be a really nice person and wiling to explain how things work. I'll be going back there to test out some future mods..:)

    Cheers

If you've got a probe - not going there thanks !!!!!!!!!!

I think the reading comes from where the hose thing

connects to the balance pipe, as that is a good place to get a proper reading of the temperature inside your manifold, i'm not to sure. Maybe that probe reads boost and temp?

 no i did not find any secret stash.....

but crap i am going to have a look now though.

But at least the NA figures were consistent. Except for yours Marky.....so would you hold the record for the most modded Natural Aspirated(NA) Zed in VIC?:) Also all that gold, would that be a mod? ha ha ha

    Max:thumbsup:

    Thanks Peter.

I guess recognition would go firstly to Nissport. Joe and Spencer have done a great job. Also thanks to Simon for providing me with parts and direction. They have all been very helpful to get my car where it is now considering i was working under a budget.

    Cheers,
    Ryan.

How did Wykked's car go on the dyno ???

    Nobody mentioned his numbers

    hmmmmm

dont know about the most modded. I still lack some obvious mods such as underdrive pulley or even a lightened flywheel. My baby still has more in her, its just a case of unlocking all the goodness. Unfortuneatly dyno and tuning time is expensive, so its not something I will achieve all in one go. It may take a while, but I'm patient..:)

Wykkeds car didn't get on the dyno

Engine troubles that i believe are related to a cracked piston? Bad luck Peter!

    what a great day!

thanks to all those responsible for putting on the dyno day, i had a great time, especially because it was the first zed event I've attended. I recently became the proud owner of a pearl yellow '90 NA (see the pics), that put out 121.4rwkw in standard form. Not bad considering the other NA's in the field.
Great day, would love to do it again in the future.
    Tom.

    Interesting

I would have thought testing chips would have been high on the agenda so it could be proven, but then risk of disproven. If you like them that is the most important thing, customer satisfaction. They work in Melbourne is there different chips for different states?
Re the air temp thing well something is obviously wrong there, you might ask them or maybe faulty sensor?
How many cars were dynoed on the day?

    What a top day.......>>

Even if I did have to spend it as a spectator. Oh well, we build the next engine stronger and apply everything we have learnt to make it even more bullet proof. It was an amazing turnout with lot of new members who I'm afraid I didn't know or get the chance to meet. Simon, Bob and Arther did an amazing job all day and hopefully people came away with more then just a print out with some squigly lines on them. Now I have to answe a few questions.

2nd to 3rd gear drive train loss isn't 30kw on an NA so I'm sorry to say Doug you don't have 156kw. We found on Friday that my 5 cylinder zed made around 30kw more in 3rd gear then it did in 2nd, but since drive train loss isn't going to be a constant, but rather a percentage your figures will be less then that. How much less can only be answerd by actually testing it.

Inlet temperatures. The two different figures in Marks graphs equate to runs on Friday morning when it was cool (13 degrees) and Saturday (25 degrees). The probe was not placed in the inlet tract, but rather was used to measure ambient temperature and we just ran out of time to try and do ECU comparisons with so many cars on the day. At 6:00 when we left they we still going. Roll on next Saturday and Mark's tech day. With my car off the road I'll be roaming around with ConZult in hand, so if anybody wants to do anything let me know.

Who belongs to the pink zed?

  17. red32

    red32 You talkin' to me?

No way my Zed has 156kW!!!

I'm quite happy to claim 126+.

I brought up Arthurs comment re 2nd to 3rd gear comparison, and powertrain losses, to suggest that the Aussie NA figures obtained on the day are probably a little on the low side. AS to why mine made more power tham the others, I have no idea, I don't think there are any mods other than pod filter and exhaust.

Anyway, see you at Jedi's next Saturday

    Cheers,

    Re: Pink (purple) Zed

    Hiya, MissDAisy

Zed you are refering to belongs to dr-zx (Sam).

The inside looks just as cool as the outside.

  19. JEDI-77

    JEDI-77 Jedi Master

    ahhhhh, no its not Dr_zx.....

The purple zed belongs to paul (TOYZX). Dr_zx has a gunmetal grey NA, with cool mags, which has been "dumped" in the weeds and a stereo that should be classified as a weapon of mass destruction..:)

    Cheers
