    Thanks :)

Well today, straightened out the radiator support somewhat and got the bonnet to close almost flush and changed the black sludge that used to be oil I assume.

Oil pressure is a LOT better now sitting about 3000 on cold idle compared to 1500-2000 before. Haven't tested warm idle yet, got too late and my neighbours are the wingey type and I can't drive it on the street just yet.

Washed the Zed and although it's not exactly Zed related, washed the Mrs Odyssey that wishes it was a zed, does that count? Both still need a good wax though.

    Pulled off door trims

    Removed seatbelts + crappy speakers

By the way, is the size of my pictures annoying? I upload them straight from my phone and while the default size is 41MP the smallest size is still 5MP.

Maybe i should upload them to my pc and shrink them first?

Rust annihilation. My hatch was fairly rusted in a couple spots and decided to attach it to see how bad it really was. Turns out it wasn't as bad as it looked. I won't post all the images lol.

A Good wax and buff. My crappy paint didn't come up to bad. Little dings and scratches everywhere though.

Unless you already did it, I'd pull that infill panel back off, hose in a bunch of rust converter & go for a wild drive! Usually hatches rust from the inside out, so if that's what it looked like behind the infill panel, I'd be treating what's also bound to be inside. Great job though!

Thanks Smokey will do just incase, I guess the best way to get it in there undiluted would be a spray bottle. My infill isn't sitting right anyway, I think it may have cracked slightly when removed as it is sitting slightly bowed. I guess I will have to figure out a way to keep it flush, removable silicon maybe in a couple of spots.

Also not exactly today, but replaced my belts, put the trim back on and fixed the fuel door bracket.

Well I didn't think I was going to have to do enough to make one of these threads, but after a lot of considering and ripping the Stereo out today I have decided to finally do it.

The Car when I got it:

The Problems from when I got it.

There is an absolute cluster:W: of wiring with one of the dodgiest stereo installs I have ever seen.

White wires for the rear speakers turn into grey wires at the front of the car if they are even the same wires and both sets don't just disappear somewhere in the middle.

All the wires are spliced, twisted and duct taped. Some are way too long. There are 4 wires leading to LEDS that have never turned on and I have absolutely no idea what they are for.

    Missing screws EVERYWHERE.

    Instrument cluster doesn't work properly.

A significant amount of rust in the rear hatch.

Paint is pretty bad, no, fairly terrible. Dings, scratches, missing paint.

    A few small dents.

    Drivers seat bolster damaged.

    Non Retracting Belts.

    Various missing bits.

The Plan, in no particular order:

    Pull out the entire interior and redo everything, including;

    • Replace Seatbelts (Done)
    • Rip out all stereo wires and redo them properly.
    • Find out what the hell, if anything, those LED's are hooked up to.
    • New Drivers Seat (Purchased)
    • Custom fitted leather seat covers front and rear.
    • New or at least fixed instrument cluster. Possibly 300km/h.
    • Brand new complete stereo system.
    • New steering wheel, bugger cruise control I don't use it.
    • Fixed, Replaced or Re-trimmed Interior panels.

    Get the exterior looking nice with work including;

    • Fix Rust (Done)
    • Get dents pulled
    • Fix / Replace all exterior trim
    • Body Kit? (Haven't decided)
    • Spoiler (Haven't decided)
    • Fresh Paint Job (Colour?)
    • New or Repaired Rims

    Under bonnet work:

    • Make sure everything is running 100%
    • Service, Tune, Replace worn parts.
    • Remove airconditioning parts.
    • Engine dress up, Hard or coloured silicon pipes.
    • Clean and polish everything, possibly paint components.
    • Upgrades (Prone to constant changes of mind and funds)

I have quite a bit to do, but it will be worth it in the end.

    :zlove:

Is that some kind of water / methanol injection?

Yeah, that is one thing getting redone in the future as it is done fairly dodgy. I would like the jets done more securely, possibly screwed in to hard pipes.

    • Pulled out seats and most of the interior panels.
    • Ripped out terrible quality, damaged and old stereo wiring.
    • Ran 0 Gauge Power Cable from the engine bay to the boot
    • Ran 2 sets of RCA cables from front of car to boot.
    • Removed everything from boot, steam cleaned, removed rust and repainted boot. (Temporary job, not 100% mainly to prevent rust for now. Gotta chuck a tyre in anyway and after reinstalling carpet and panels it will very rarely be seen.)

After a couple of coats, some masking tape still left on:

A few more coats and a coat of clear. Looks better in person than night photo shows.

Think I do need a couple more coats of black on both black panels though.

Always feels so good to clean up an interior area and give it a new coat of jam. Tidies everything up so good.

Personal preference, but satin of matte black may look better long term than gloss black when you are just spraying over old paint. I find that if I'm lazy and to no prep work, gloss black over a rough surface just looks bad.

 noticed your poor wife's hand in the pic doing all the vacuuming , i hope she gets to drive it seeing as she is doing the dirty work :p

Yeah, I agree on the Matte black, I just used gloss temporarily as it is all I had on hand. In a few months I plan on getting a full respray anyway so I just did it fairly rough. The ABS shield at the back I actually sanded back and did properly but the cover in the wheel well I was like bugger it, it's under the wheel anyway.

Yeah the Mrs has been helping out a lot, would have taken twice as long without her. We have been sharing tasks and getting things done super fast. Once its back together she can drive it as much as she likes.

She is a great person and very supportive of my pursuits and hobbies and gets into everything I do with almost as much passion as me! I consider myself very lucky and also have 2 wonderful kids including a 5 year old boy who is very excited and patiently waiting to come for a ride in "daddys fast turbo car" lol. My 1/2 year old daughter just points and says red car every time she sees it lol.

Ahhh good to see Matt, not too many women share their men's passion for things especially cars. And as for the kids make sure you get really good quality seats and restraints for them, they are more precious than any bucket of nuts and bolts and belts and rubber.

Totally agree Scotty, we have some really good seats in the Mrs Odyssey, but I am not sure how well they will fit in the Zed.

If they sit on an angle like most I have seen, I may try to make a custom panel that is flat to go over the seat. I will just have to work out exactly how to secure it in place, maybe even make something that replaces the original bottom half of the seat entirely and bolt up to the original mounts.
