Has anyone found or sustituted their spare wheel for a Mag wheel?
Purpose is to save on weight.
I'm guessing the rim would have to be no wider than 125mm. (about 5") to fit in the wheel well.
And then; there's the challenge of finding a suitable tyre.

    Firstly, to answer your question..Nope.
And I was wondering if it might be because a mag wheel that narrow might not be strong enough on our cars.

A spare wheel when not full size spare is meant for short distance and to look ugly so people don't keep driving on them and fix their actual wheel/tire.
Otherwise just save weight by leaving the spare out and getting car towed when a flat occurs. My personal solution which I have needed to do once ->have good friend/family to have spare set of wheels to come and change wheel for you.

Another option is to keep a tyre repair kit in the car and a portable inflator (pistol type compact units available from AliExpress) and do the repair anywhere, it only takes a few minutes. How to on YouTube.

iv had a 245 50 16 on a oem rim in the wheel well this is a 25.6" tyre, i would look at a drag spec front runner can be had in 17x3.5, 17x4.5 ford stud pattern (you will need something like -25mm offset to clear front brakes, nankang makes a 165 70 17 which is a 26.1" tyre most drag spec front runners for our cars are 26" tyre, have also seen a stance spec z32 (red car white wheels if you want to search it up) he made a spare wheel with a spare 3 piece face and used two lips to make a slim spare. Then comes the problem of securing, the oem spare face goes a fair way inward around the bolt holes allowing the oem bolt to hold it down no after market wheel would do this.

2+0's have an alloy rim for the spare, although I'm not sure how much of a weight difference there is compared to the steel one in a 2+2.

Do you have a picture of one.
I've wrecked a couple of 2+0 over the years and only ever found steel spares.
I guess it could have beenan option.

2+0's have a collapsible tire to fit in the boot on this style of alloy rim. I've only seen steel on 2+2 (with an always inflated tyre).

And if you ever get two flats on a trip, it's not a big deal and the best part is that the repair is pemanent!

I had a flat in my daily on a Saturday and I spent half a day trying (begging almost) to get a tyre shop to repair it and out of utter frustration ended up doing it myself, first time ever and after that I thought... OMG this is so easy, a no-brainer and kept the kit in the car, should it be needed again, anywhere anytime!

    Thanks.
I also carry a repair kit. They work pretty well on a basic nail or screw hole; however you still need to raise the car to protect the tyre side wall when the tyre is fully deflated.
A front wheel repair can easily be done because you can turn the steering so that the puncture in the tyre faces you, however its a bit more challenging with a rear wheel flat.
I find it easier to take a rear wheel off the car to do a repair. But, by the time you've done that, its quicker to just fit the spare and be on your way.
