    to come...

Very easy, should take about 10-15mins, just one wire to cut (or remove pin from connector).

I took a couple of photos, I'll make it up into a tech article tomorrow or Monday...

    Thats excellent!

So, when you pull the key out and the engines running on timer, the light chime works when the lights are on...Yes?!

Thats great news!!!! I am all ears!!!

Hmmm, mine still chimes when the Timer is running...

My "Lights On" warning chime works when the Turbo Timer is running...is this supposed to be a common problem with Turbo Timers?

I don't have a stand alone Timer though, it's built into the alarm...so maybe that's why it works...I don't know...

    Good stuff

Althought I still can't understand why headlights aren't just turned off automatically when the ACC is turned off.

My father's Subaru Outback does that. It solves a lot of problems.

"lights on" warning chime with turbo timer - Tech Article

Usually the "lights on" warning chime will only chime when the lights are on, the door is open and the engine is off. This is a problem when you have a turbo timer as the engine is running when you open the door, so it doesn't chime. This modification changes that so it chimes when the engine is running.

The time control unit controls this function, it is found near the fuse block behind the drivers side kickpanel, as shown on this page of the service manual.

To access the unit you have to remove the kickpanel, to do this first remove the sill (as the kickpanel interlocks behind this) then remove the 3 screws that hold the panel in (highlighted in green) and pull the panel out.

There is some black mat stuff stuck over the time control unit you might also have to remove (it breaks up really easily), you should then be able to see the control unit (highlighted in red), remove the connector.
The wire that tells the unit whether the engine is running or not is the green one (shown below), all you have to do is cut this wire. You can actually take the pin out of the connector if you want but it's a bit fiddly ! There is a clip that holds it in, you have to release this clip from the front of the connector (I used a pair of very fine tweezers) and gently pull the pin out the back.

Tape up the exposed wire, and you're done !
