This may sound stupid but I could never get a good reading off the dip stick.

Before I would always put in 4L and not think about it. With Z1/Setrab oil cooler it's changed the stock oil capacity and I can't tell whether I've overfilled or low.

Going by 1st two photos it's looking like it's low.

On the last photo, looks like it's up to the H part and maybe a bit overfilled?

Regardless the whole thing looks like it's got some oil on it.

It's not over filled according to the dipstick you've posted.
You will get residue within the tube itself which is what I believe you're seeing.

Face the cross pattern towards the block when going in aswell.
The cross pattern is the side you want to pay attention too.

If you're still not sure just add another hundred miler liters
And see what the level does. (As you can always empty out some)

Still low, it fills in the checkered pattern when the level is up. Dip it in the bottle to give you a reference point if you need. Mine takes a shade over 5L with a full flow cooler.

If you aren't sure then it's low.
Try checking by taking the dipstick out overnight.
Clean it so it is dry.
Now that your engine oil is cold, it will be a lot easier to get an obvious reading.
You won't get any obvious oil residue because it has been sitting overnight.

    Low

That looks Low to me, like not even registering on the stick. The dip stick only measure the top 1 litre (approx). So yeah, add some more.

    Thanks gents, all sorted.

Had the stock 4L in there and once it went through the cooler, cooler lines and heads it wasn't even registering on the dip stick.

Have close to 6L in there and finally showing full

Stock TT fill is 5.4 litres. Always has been............ I always fill to the dip stick, never measure the amount and assume its right.

I thought stock NA oil capacity was 3.9 and stock TT 4.1?

The manual may say it is, But you need 5.4L to fill a TT with a new filter.

4.2L wont hack it in a TT, but is enough in an NA.

    Egg ....

    5.4L?

You sure you didn't mean 4.4L?

Manual says 3 point something but I find 4.3 - 4.4 is about perfect with a regular sized filter.

Different oil coolers make a big difference....

in oil capacity, and everyone has a different cooler.

The best way to do a tt oil change is to throw in 4L and then top up according to the dipstick...... foolproof method.

For an NA you might want to use 3.5L ....... once you know your zed's capacity you can adjust accordingly
