    If you are an old timer like me with a clean record and your zed is a weekend toy, this might be a cheap insurance proposition for you ... This is what I was just offered today ...Full Comprehensive insurance:
    $693.00pa with excess of $1000 or
    $808.50pa with excess of $500Confirmed (in writing) based on the following details:
    * 1990 Twin Turbo, GREY Import, 2+2, Modded Exhaust ("most BASIC mods ok but must be specified and must be within legal limits")
    * "Market value" replacement in event of write-off- obviously no good for those who have big bucks invested in mods...
    * Require proof of approved, passive arming 3pt immobiliser installed ( Brant install onsite for about $350)
    * Postcode garaged = 4122 (in Brisbane)
    * Main driver = Rating 1 with no claims/offences in past 5 years
    * Youngest driver 38yo (excludes <25yo drivers)
    * Driving Frequency ("quoted as 2-3 times weekly as a 2nd car")Contact Mark or Cindy @ Torque (Lumley Insurance) on 1300 369769;). Even if you don't meet the above criteria, they seem extremely approachable and by looks of forum feedback, Torque are ok in event of making a claim. Has anyone had any negative experiences with them?

    I'l beat you on that one...

    Rough details with HBF: $1100 a year, I *think* no excess, agreed value for 35k, first option on salvage, they had reciepts and took photocopies of them all for over 45k worth of mods. All they state is must be street legal.Just hope I dont get shafted if i ever have to make a claim.

    I called them and they only insure

    in WA and possible SA so no good for me. Thanks anyway. BTW: Would be worth checking those excesses, their website quotes several excesses })

    you should be careful

    with that condition of "steet legal", but I dont know how the laws go in your state. In Vic, street legal means maintaining compliance with the ADR's applicable to the vehicle, which means you would need to comply with applicable emission requirements, which I am assuming your car would not on the basis that you have spent $45000. As soon as you change anything to do with the engine mangagement system, change turbos, or change engine internals, then you are affecting your emission compliance.

    Got a story for you ...

    Remember the old Monaros? Bought a '68 model back in '76. (327, 4 speed, 35gal tank etc. 10/12 mpg on trip) Cost me $1k thought I had better insure it. Pick a price, all in excess of $2500 (rating 1 at time too). Needless to say, I moved to third party fire and theft with a company I didn't get a quote for full comprenhsive from.

    BlueZ Oldie but a goodie

    I've been with Torque

    ever since I bought the Z. My premium is similar. I've heard of one Z owner who had a write-off and Torque paid up promptly. That made me feel a lot more comfortable.
    See Ya,
