but you can modify a h3 if needed

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

    They come with H3C bulbs

but fat chance of finding those in stock at supa-crap auto.
I'd go and buy some H3 bulbs from Repco or somewhere like that and do the H3 conversion. TECH ARTICLE HERE

It's a 15 minute job and it just basically earths out the metal casing on your headlight.

You can go the recommended 50w bulbs, but they are still quite dull - or you could get some 100w bulbs for a "bit" better brightness, but some people have posted that they blow quicker or cause dramas. I had these 100w bulbs in my Zed for about 2 years with no dramas at all until just recently when i upgraded to a super bright HID kit :zlove:

Probably not a problem with the zed's, but it is worth posting here.

our work ute had 100w stupid blue globes (you know, try hard HID) and because of the high wattage and resistance in the blue tint, the globes became STUPIDLY hot (i understand incandescent globes get hot....)
However it disintegrated the little plug at the back of the globe, melted the wires behind.
I couldn't figure out what it was for ages untill i pretty much replaced everything else.

    So high voltage, maybe
high voltage plus stupid blue tinted globes-not cool....

Do you like what i did there, the joke about high voltage and blue glass creating lots of heat....not cool....wait wait.... you'll get it in a minute and laugh...i promise...

Just a quiet word of advice....

Go to Auto Barn and buy the Philips Vision Plus bulbs.......

There are a number of comparison tests including one in the UK covering about 24 different bulbs including those from Narva, Hella etc and the Vision Plus came out on top.:)

    50% more light from a 55w bulb.....$29 a pair.........I use them in my car and they work!

    Hmm,

I bought 2 H4's for the 280zx 12 months ago from same. 1 blew after a week, and the best they would give was 50% off on purchase of a new one.

On the other hand, I bought some orange indicator bulbs 3 weeks ago from them and was sent the wrong type. They sent replacements very quickly, no questions asked.

    Bit mixed experience there.

You sure both globes are blown, and not a wiring or fuse issue ? Both high and low beam gone ?

You can do the conversion to H3's (with the extra earth wire) and use either H3 or H3C's after that. I did that and put 2 100W H3's in. 1 blew almost immediately, so I ended up putting the H3C's back in.

Hey Simon....what does HID stand for?

Someone told me it stood for "highly indecent @#%*head" .....:D :D :D

Actually...come to think of it .........might have been CHILI or Baz that told me that!! :p :p :p

Seriously.....where you get your HID kit from? I've been offered a couple over time but not sure if they're not just less cheap and nasty!

I miss my B4 Legacy with HID.......always attracted attention whenI turned on the lights and that bright flare up happened.....almost like a weak flash going off! People would stop and stare for a sec not knowing what just happened.

    Great pose value!!!

    High Beams

I know the low beams are H3c's, What globes are the high beams?
With the Hid conversion is it worth doing the high beams or just the low beams?
