tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

Yes, and Ive seen "undeniable" evidence that a completely rooted engine came back to life and lived on for many years along with much other anecdotal eveidence just by pouring in some snake-oil product "Motor-up"!
All these people lined up in the infomercial top praise this amazing product. Various stories of engine magically coming right after being diagnosed as munted. Surely they were right......
Next thing is you just get a pressure pack can of this stuff and spray it around at the wreckers and..................... yeeeaaaahhh!

Surely then Rollin, Techie, EPR, A2Z and the rest of the engine building men should be feeling just a TAD nervous eh?

The engineering world is literally full of what amounts to magical remedies for engineering issues.
My turbo in my truck shat itself enough to throw oil up and out of the stack and spray the entire 20 meters of B-double trailer set with the blasted black oily shite, enough to even run down the stack and out over the chassis rails and poke out enough smoke to fog the entire highway. I limped the thing off the road and idled it as the smoke slowly went away. Turbo still happily wizzing away. (variable vane bb cored big frame Holset turbo which whistles like mad at idle)
A couple of blips on the throttle and just the slightest whisper.
So I gently drove the truck a further 5 K's and called the truck repairers who came out, removed the turbo inlet and outlets, expecting to find it full of oil and turbo remains.
Well, guess what? NOTHING. Not even any evidence of burnt oil in the turbine outlet.
The mechanic even doubted I had any issue but i pointed out the bloody oil spray everywhere and the streams of oil down the chrome stack, pooed on top of the muffler and all over the chassis below........he still seemd doubtful and by this time i was even doubting myself..........
We ran it with the turbine outlet removed revved the shit out of it for over half an hour.....nothing...WTF???

That particular prime mover is still running linehaul, many hundreds of thousands of K's later pulling heavy B-double trailers with the very SAME turbo............ Strange things happen indeed.

It seems the x pipe is creating a set of circumstances in some way masking another set of circumstances reulting in the original smoke. If 30 bucks fixed your smoke just after starting, good for you. Me, i would have left it to smoke a bit. So what?

I have a read out from the CTS of ambient temperature when cold then it warms up to normal operating temperature and stabilizes at 83degC. I believe that this is the signal that the ECU receives and uses for cold starts.
I have new plugs fitted, set with 0.9mm gap, cant believe that all six are unserviceable.

Thanks for all your help guys, please keep the ideas flowing.

I've personally seen it on 2 cars - my car had a merged exhaust and never had a problem, then I went to a complete seperate exhaust system - suddenly started smoking at idle after about 3-5 minutes.
Added an H pipe - stopped the smoke...... I was sceptical too but can't argue with the results.....
