Great day for a drive and a reasonable turn out too, just under 30 cars I think.

It was good to catch up with a few people I've not seen in a while and there were plenty of new faces as well.

The first half of the route was great as the GOR routes always are but inflrtunately quite a few of us have no idea what the last half was like.

There is a good reason why at the start of the day everyone is asked to keep the car behind them in view at all times. If somewhere along the line someone is slowed down (such as by giving way to traffic on a road they are turning on to) it means we can all still stay together and get to where we need to go.

Unfortunatley despite this being a pretty damn basic thing it seems it's still somewhat difficult for some people to manage and as such quite a few cars missed half the cruise after getting stuck behind some traffic and whoever was in front of them failing to slow down to let them catch up and leaving us with no-one who knew where we were meant to be going.

Especially poor form considering a few of the people at the back who ended up missing half the cruise were at the back because they'd volunteered to go ahead, get shots of all of us as we went past then tag along at the back after we'd all been by.

    Yeah great day......but.....

Had an awesome day as always and big thanks to Kingy for another great GOR run....

But yeah, the old rule of keeping the car behind you in the mirror failed us today.... I was in the rear group as I had stayed behind to take photos of you guys... But somewhere along the way, the group got split and the guy leading us was left stranded with no idea where you guys had gotten to.... As such, we just followed the leader and ended up returning home via some rather uninteresting straight inland roads..... Well no point whining about it now as I should have realised earlier and just made my way back to the GOR..... But this wouldn't have happened if the guys up front had slowed down and waited.

Anyway, my pics will follow shortly... Just need to do some photo editing.

This. They were a few people who didn't ad-hear to this, myself at times. Although after not seeing the person behind for a while I would slow back down. What did happen to everyone in the end? Where was the wrong turn made?

Ill get round to uploading the pics in a min

Yes this was an issue.... I'm the first half I could only see a couple of cars behind me but no one else behind them.... So I pulled up and waited for the rest of the crew.... I believe they where stuck behind a bus? The guys I front of me did not stop they continued on...

    2 buses to be exact.

Firstly & most importantly, massive thanks to Kingy & anybody else involved in organising today. Had a good turnout, but missed out on last years numbers by just a few.

Weather was gloomy at the start, but then the sun shined & the targas were off :)

Secondly, i was part of the group at the back...Robbo i believe once we left the lighthouse...when everybody turned right onto the main road...is where the group split. The whole watch the person rule disappeared since then.

Once the group that was left behind were all together we started driving with Adam & myself upfront. Neither Adam or myself knew where we were meant to be going...but since we were meant to be heading back to Geelong for the group photo, we figured we might aswell head that way & just followed the signs leading to Geelong.

Once we got to Geelong, most of our group left & we decided to leave aswell as i wasnt worth waiting for the others in Geelong.

Other than that, a great cruise & we got a lot more driving than last year which i clearly enjoyed :)

Hope everybody go home safely & had a good time aswell.

Great to meet some new faces & always good to catch up with old friends :)

So did you guys go right or left? Oh well what's done is done. Was an enjoyable day for the most part, and I think aidan has your screwdriver Daniel./

We figured the wrong turn was at Lavers Hill, we all went right, assume you guys went left?

I cant remember what the street is called...but after the gravel road where it was really bad & it had the big hole in the middle, where the koalas were...at the end of that we all followed Kingy...after that we all ended up at a T intersection having to turn right...after the first few took off, we all got stuck waiting for cars to go past...that was the last time we saw the group upfront...which is because they didnt wait for us & kept going I'm assuming

I thought the right turn at Lavers Hill was correct and we missed a turn further on.

More to the point, no-one should have been guessing turns at all, it's really not that hard to keep an eye on the car behind you in your rear view mirror.

There's your problem. After the photo cruise back from the lighthouse, we all stopped at the T intersection, and when we left we turned left (not the way we came). Kingy lead us down inland to some freaky narrow road.

Seems like a few times, the guys at the front just got separated from the guys at the back, obviously the message wasn't quite making it up the queue. More than once I noticed that the guys behind the guys behind me were gone compeltely :p

But it really was a fantastic day, and a damn shame not everyone could enjoy the entire cruise. Me and Reanna had a wonderful time :D

Also, did anyone see the group of Silvias on the side of the road near Lorne or something? Miraculously caught up with them on the way back to the Peninsula at the end of the day...all fat cannons and BOVs :p Good fun.

Ps. 14 hours straight with the t-tops off, lovely.

had an awesome day that narrow road was sweet. We turned left and up the hill at the last town we ran through and after that never saw anyone besides the black Z behind me

good to see the crew again

    I agree,

can't figure where it went wrong then, didn't think there were any turn offs between the right at lavers hill and where we all came to a stop. Still, shouldnt happen

    Good day!

The day started with the meetup at Todd Road & cruise to Avalon. I don't have any pics as I spent most of the time catching up with some old faces I hadn't seen in a while. Besides I'm sure there are plenty of others who have taken photos. But a lot of us spent some time going through Adam's 2000 spec build and it's amazing! Hopefully he'll put up a new thread dedicated entirely to his car because it doesn't deserve to be hidden away in a GOR thread.

From Avalon we cruised through to Apollo Bay where we stopped for lunch:

We were meant to head back to Apollo Bay and return to home via the GOR again, but as others have said, disappointingly the cruise got separated into 2 groups at this point so no more pics, and a lot of socialization was cut short which is a bit crap. But they are things we'll work on for next time.
