Hey guys, so the gearbox is out of my NA to get the belhousing machined. iv taken it off and also the rear half of the gearbox is almost off While its off i was wondering if there's anything i can personally to servicing wise? or anyting else people would suggest doing? cheers Ben
You could possibly change the rear main seal if it hasn't been done. You will just have to pull the clutch off first. Also the back water hoses for the turbos are easier to get to when the gearbox is out. They are known to fail if they haven't been changed in a plenum pull/bypass.
Nope! I bought his TT box like a week ago! If im not mistaken, he is referring to his NA gearbox he took out of his NA Zed which he is planning to put into a drift 180SX hes working on. MoulaZX
Yep thats the go. my 300 was stolen, and i bought it back off insurance to strip the remaining bits off it. im using the gearbox with an adapter plate on my sr20, so question is while the gearbox is apart on my garage floor, anything worth changing or working on while its there
Gearboxes are incredibly finicky mate. I would strongly suggest getting a pro to do anything. Seen countless botched DIY gearbox rebuild jobs, end result usually is far from pretty. I will be the first to stick my hand for 'any' job on a car but never even consider doing a gearbox myself. If you're really keen on it and have had some experience, I would suggest looking up some replacement parts for the box, like this maybe?
