Gear stick Question

Hey guys, I have removed my gear stick to do the short thow shifter tech, and i was wondering (refer to pic) if it is poosible to remove the gear stick fromthe main shaft... so i can remove all the rubbers etc to make it easier to weld.. i thought i'd ask before i go and break mine is it just a simple unscrewing job (anticlockwise action?)

 

no its one peice u knock the pivot ball out the way then just file down and tack it i did mine 55mm

it makes a big difference! i love it when u go through the gears it just pops in
