And what could be better then an OEM flare style torch ?

    I like it.

How about a demo video at night and day or something, or is it to good to use ? :p

That's an interesting little thing. Wonder how much of a fire it can put out?

  5. So that's what the little bracket is for. Definitely a nice little investment. Going to try and source one now.

I thought the same, so I looked up a vid about it.
Unfortunately I stuffed up the embedded link.

If you had an under bonnet fire you would need to use an idea I once had (back in 1988, but my boss said someone else had already put in public domain) a valve which would be similar to the racing fuel filler port, on passenger vehicle bonnets, or somewhere safer, in case of engine fire just stab one of these into the valve and release the smoke to suffocate the flame. If that doesn't work then slam the next one, maybe a different type of fire fighting foam.

I suppose it could be sprayed in a bonnet vent.

when I worked in the fire/safety shop we used to sell/recommend the small extinguishers with the hose for cars, that way in the case of an engine fire where the last thing one really should do is open the bonnet because it allows so much more air in and can cause a flare up (like smashing a window in a room with a small fire). the hose can be poked into the engine bay and the trigger pulled to put the fire out.

The OP was asking if you can get flares and where?
Interesting that he only searched bcf for a torch and didn't realise the flare he was looking for was right under his nose.

I was just thumbing through my bcf Xmas catalogue :rolleyes2: HO HO HUM

Thanks but I am quiet capable of sourcing a flare if need be, the question was more aimed at OEM flares and the legalities of purchasing, importing, carrying and using them etc.

And to open up a general discussion on what the bracket could be used for.

There is a distinct lack of original thought or discussion on the forum, well relating to the 300ZX that is, I thought I would start something.

As it turned out Nissan had made a torch that by design looked like a alternative to the flare possibly for countries where there are compliance issues. The torch kind of looks like a flare it has been fitted to a Nissan using the same bracket in the JDM Z32.

For the die hard JDM OEM enthusiast (cough Adam :p) it makes a great touch to the cars finish.

Well I noticed that your original question (as you wrote it) wasn't explicitly answered, so I answered it and stated that I found something interesting in what was written.

So it seems you intended to ask more than what you wrote, no problem in that. But how would I know that you are perfectly capable of sourcing a flare if you didn't demonstrate that. You think there is a lack of original thought on this forum, but I contributed something different to the initial flare or the torch that you asked for ie. Extinguisher. Didn't you like that?

So lack of original thought you say?, well add lack of reading, (w)riting and (a)rithmetic because $16.50 is not double the price of $15

I posted the actual page and description showing that the price is for a pack of 4. So you'd need four brackets and you could be 4 times more JDM than the next bloke :zlove: so rice

And yet another good thread is polluted by stupidity.

Yeah I deleted the thread to Whitworth as I expected some idiot to not understand how $15 for one as required is cheaper then 4 for $60.
