Ok so I have 3 issues that I am having with my 300ZX that I consider them teething issues after running and riving my car dialy, when I had it sitting for 5 years.

    1) I get a nasty shake/vibration coming through from the drive tran between 60km to 80kmhr when driving. Mostly in 3rd gear, little less in 2nd and 4th.
I am assuming it is an unbalanced tailshaft, it wasn't always this way, but has become a problem in the last 3 days, previous to thatit was fine.
Is there some bolts that could be loose that is causing this and how do I fix this?

    2) When I was getting my car rebuilt by a mechanic, they bypassed the electrical/security system to be able to start it. I have ordered a new Viper security system from the states which should be here shortly, but I would like to get my remote central locking to work again. This worked previously, and has obviously been bypassed when worked on. I have replaced the buttons so the square stock OEM remotes now light up with the red light, but they don't lock or unlock.
Can someone please advise how to enable the locking system on this? Is it a fuse or circuit somewhere?

    3) Lastone - Bad fuel consumption/nosiey crackly exhaust
Random back firing when accelerating and backing on Revs from 3500 to 5000rpm. I get a crackle and pop from the exhaust ocassionally when accelerating. This happens mostly, and most noticeably under heavy acceleration or braking, less when driving normally. I believe the car is running rich, and fuel is igniting after leaving the engine in the exhaust due to temp but I am not sure? I am getting about 17lt / 100km at the moment
I have checked all cylinders, they are firing. I have replaced the O2s and knock sensors. I only run 98 Octane.
I am running a Ser 2 PTU which I will be rewiring a new S2 PTU in this weekend hopefully and my next step was to purchase new coil packs? Should I also remove the injectors and get them cleaned and flow checked?
I believe that it is the passenger side exhuast that crackles the most, where as the driver side seems to respond normally without crackle?
I haven't had time to run EXC talk or Conzult on the car yet. SHould I run Conzult free edition and read then clear any error codes it finds?

    Any ideas? :zlove:

First problem sounds like a dodgy CV joint in the tail shaft. Get a one piece unit and eliminate the problem/possibility of it happening again.

3 sounds like over fueling. Get injectors flow tested and cleaned.

Unburnt fuel exploding and crackling in the exhaust? You know the Merc SLS actually dumps unburnt fuel down there, deliberately, to cause the same effect?
    Cherish it :D

Hahah I know the SLS very well, I worked at a Mer dealership ;)
If you have $500k for a SLS you can afford fuel at 17lt/100 at $1.71/lt at the moment, but I can't :( My N.A is my daily driver :(

Is it possible to get a faulty CV joint out of no where? I Would normally go to COZ for parts, but shifting a 1 piece tailshatf from the USA, can't be cheap! Where else in AU sells 1 piece'rs?

NAs don't have a CV joint on the tail shaft, they have universal joints.
If you have a standard (OEM) tail shaft, then maybe gearbox mounts, worn centre bearing or bad uni-joints could be causing your vibration.

My bad, meant uni joints, thanks for the clear up Pex.

Uni's can just go, like any other part. Any drive train/tail shaft place should be able to make you one.

And lastly, but cheaply...unbalanced tyre/wheel. You may have lost a balance weight, can cause your symptoms, and is about $6.34c to fix.

Not a cv joint, but rather the rubber centre bearing in the tailshaft will probably have sagged while sitting/rubber will have deteriorated causing a vibration. Around $500 iirc. all up to have my 1 piece landed at my door from czp.
