Was shown a book at work this week by a japanese colleague & was surprised to see a number of photos of the mighty zed in its early design phases so thought i would share.
The book is about clay modeling (what i do) & was produced by the head modeler at nissan in the late 90's to show the public how the process works.

design review stage featuring life sized renderings & 1/4 scale clay models. note z31 model used as comparison.

early interior concept, scale model made of foam.

various levels of progress with 1:1 clay models.

working on the chosen design. 'pointer' machines used to balance the design from left to right hand side. We now use alias and 3 & 5 axis mills.

a plastic model, again 1:1 scale. moulds taken from clay version & plastic panels created.

1:1 scale model of interior made entirely of wood. Used for shows.

    Awesome find ....

Is that the Z31 pale gold colour on the plastic mock up, would love to see that on a Z32 in the flesh.

And also my pet hate in the clay pointer pic the front left wheel is the wrong one  (well it looks like it is the wrong side)

'Clay Modeling: Techniques for Giving Three-Dimensional Form to Idea'
It was a special edition produced by 'Car Styling' magazine in the late 90's.

The photo of the plastic model is black & white... but who knows it could be z31 pale gold :D
But i know the one you mean, lowest in the group of 3 photos with the hollowed out interior yeah? It could well be a pale gold although they tend to use silver on all models as its the easiest colour to read the lines & highlights when reviewing the design & they like to keep it uniform throughout the design process.

That the thing they will not cool the brakes as well as the ones they went with, directionally designed wheels with brake cooling qualities is a feature of the Z32.

So yeah those wheels look good but not as cool as the ones we got. :zlove:

Oh and heres a cool picture too.
