I've got 2, 300zx's the first one has some surface rust in the boot and in a few corners and the previous owner said he cut some out after changing the windscreen. I'm wondering if i can see it there is it going to be everywhere ? the paint and panels look great. probably resprayed
The other 300 is clean as for rust but has a bit of body damage. but is mostly very straight and original paint. Which is likely to be the better option?
Just after general thoughts on rust in these cars.

IMHO, the worst rust spot on the early model zeds (pre '93) is the rear hatch where the rear spoiler sits. Because the spoiler is made of injection molded foam, it holds the moisture once the outer surface is damaged. The spoiler has internal metal braces that start to rust and they transfer the rust to the hatch if spoiler is not removed.

The rest of the zed is fairly good rust wise, with the targas presenting problems if not maintained properly.

Agree with Ian, rust can be prevalent in the rear hatches.
Have seen rust in the lower sections of the A pillars

I have also seen rust in one car at the lower rear qtr behind the bumper..... not sure what caused this one but suspect water leaking in from a rusty tailgate. but the normal spots have been listed above and yes Z32's are pretty good when it comes to rust issues that plague a lot of japanese cars of the era
