I'm getting a code 34 when ever I plug the det sensor harness connector into the the ecu side connector, in other words a normal connection is made. I've checked the sensor side with a multi meter and its fine, and I've also checked the ecu side and its showing no resistance (when it should be around500m) earth side is good. Funny thing is when I do the resister trick, I get a 55 all clear. I would have thought if the wiring on the ecu side was faulty the resistor trick wouldn't work.. is that right?

Faulty DET sensor most likely, even if it seems to be testing okay.

If the resistor trick works, it's definitely not the ECU side.

    The sensor

was replaced when the engine was rebuilt, Imbessi ? insisted on it. And right after the engine was started for the first time, it had c34.. so the sensor must have been bad right from the start.

Is the sensor OEM? If it's not then it could be giving a different resistance/voltage to what the ECU is expecting. That'd throw up a code.

    I think

It was an generic ebay sensor ..could be the problem right there.

Is "resisistor trick" same as bypass plug that so msny of us bought and left in the diag tool kit?

1 meg ohm resistor in circuit to ground point, same as bypass plug, although if the issue is the wiring from ecu up to the point then the plug wont work so have to splice the resistor closer to ecu
