Never heard of this buckets way, jus had a look seems pretty twisty, are the roads good or rough with potholes?

I thought we would have been going up F3, then take off through kurri kurri, cessnock and come out at singleton and keep heading up the New England,
roads are boring but they are straight and safe.

    Excellent!

Of course, you don't have to fly if you don't want to. You could always drive to our place instead if you preferred.

Naturally, we would have to throw a cover or something over the Toyota for the weekend in case the neighbours or passers by see it. :bash: :bash:

Let us know your plans once you have made them. :)

i always take buckets and thunderbolts. Roads are in good nick, bar a few tiny stretches, but on the whole a great road. Not too twisty but there are a few twisty sections.

You take the F3 into hexam and then about 20 minutes further on turn off to glouster. It's a very scenic drive, and personally the only way I go if I head north.

    Hi Andy,
You always have the alternative route of Port (Woop Woop) :p Macquarie, turn left and head up to Wauchope with some of the best twistie bits around and into Armidale.
I came back that way a few years ago and it has some fantastic scenery, an excellent roads.
But then I suppose you wouldn't want to be driving for what seems hours on your back, staring up the escarpment.:p :D:rofl::rofl:
Cheers and enjoy the drive no matter which way you decide to take, their all good.

Dudes, Ditch the F3 for the Putty road which goes from NW syd (around wilberforce) up top the hunter wine country / broke. From there, you can go some tricky back roads to get to thunderbolts way. If you love the twisties, putty roas is the place for you.

That being said, Some of the newcastle blokes are looking to head up, Im thinking an early cruise would be ideal. Otherwise my other option is the thunderbolts way during dusk / night
    This is kangaroo country :bash:

Keep in mind there is a cruise scheduled for Armidale. To be honest I just want to get there the quickest way possible. Unless of course I can get a few more days off either side

I am going to be heading up Putty road from Penrith planning to leave at about 6am or so.
If you are in western sydney you can join if you like we already have three zeds going that way if anyone is keen let us know.

If you are in the Penrith area it takes about the same time and you don't have the risk of the dreaded F3 holiday traffic.

    Terry.

Looks like us newcastle guys will be waiting at the bucketts way turnoff, just off the highway, or maybe even in hexham somewhere. Would love to putty road, but not driving down the coast just to come back up.

Not doing it for the twisties per say, just to get away from the main menagerie heading north. Leave early enough to get ahead of the F3 build up and once you get onto Buckets there is no traffic. If the western crew are heading up Putty road then those on the north side can head up the F3 and we can meet up where we cross paths.

Ourimbah is only about 45-50min from mine, so we can meet earlier if it suits or we can leave later from mine.

Now Now, we've discussed having these little domestics in public. I will, without warning or notification, remove or replace the pants at will.

I forgot I now live another 15minutes from the freeway...so I will concede that it "could" take 1 hr.

Anyway. Pants off...you can wear them again.

So where is the sydney crew meeting? Is it Thornleigh Maccas or we just meeting at ourimbah rest stop? (is that the one on the left at the bottom of the hill after the speed camera?)

For those heading north along the F3, we'll meet at the Mobil service station at the corner of illoura ave and the pacific highway at wahroonga for a 5am departure or at the Ourimbah rest stop at 6am when we hook up with Barry (aka Angry Bear).

For those sydney crew coming up the F3, send me a PM for my mobile number if you want it.

Andy/Haylz - Zedmd, Leah and myself will most probably tag along... Just have to work out the logistics! :) :D

Me and Zeder1984 will probably meet on the bucketts way. Were you planning to stop in Hexham or raymond terrace before the long trip out bush? If so, we shall meet you there.

Wasn't planning on it, but if there are people who want to meet we can make a quick RV in Raymonds Terrace, likely around the 7am mark I believe.
