So does anyone know what signals are sent via the cruise control buttons? Say you press the cancel button what is sent to the acsd controller?
Need to know what sent by each button or who knows how to work it out?
    Cheers

This guy used momentary switches, (for a few years) so it would seem the signal is just on/off
The FSM might mention diodes between the switches.

    Q. "Say you press the cancel button what is sent to the acsd controller?"
    A. Electrons

    Q. Is there a prize?

"Need to know what sent by each button or who knows how to work it out?"

    Q. What do the switches have attached to them?
    A. Wires
    Q. What flows through wires?
    A. Voltage & Current
    Q. Where do the wires go?
    A. Wiring schematics can be found in the Nissan Factory Service Manual

    Cruise control switches.

The switches are nothing special. The placement of two diodes are.
the diodes can be purchased from Jaycar. they are Silicon general purpose diodes.

When you purchase them they are cylindrical with a silver band at one end. The end with the band coresponds to the arrow head end of the drawing. as the pic below tries to show.

The wire at the left is +12V and I think is yellow. the Resume and Set switches send +12V to the wires on the right that go to the Cruise Control Module. When the Cancel switch is pushed there will be +12V sent to both of the wires on the right.

    Mk3 version

This is the 3rd version of the Cruise Buttons I made and is the current one I use.

The switches are push button - momentary - Normally open (NO) type.

Exactly what I needed so it sends 12v to the acds controller, still confused on what wire does what how does it differ between resume and set?

    Detailed explanation of ASCD switch

From what I can gather the Resume/Acel(erate) signal that goes to Pin 1 of the ASCD control moduleworks as follows. If the 12v signal to pin one is of a short duration then the Resume function is engaged. If the Pin 1 signal is continuous then the car will accelerate until the signal is removed. Same goes for the Set/Coast signal going to Pin 2 of the Control module. A shrt or momentary 12V signal will Set the cruise to the current speed. Sending a longer signal will decrease the cruise speed previously set. Sending a 12V signal to both Pins 2 & 1 at the same time cancels the Cruise Control and the Green Set Cruise light on the Instrument cluster goes out. The two diodes achieve the Cancel function.

Perfect, you wouldn't happen to know how to test this would you? Multi meter on a wire somewhere along the line?

    What excactly do you mean?

What do you want to test?
Whether what i said is correct or test that the cruise control is working on the car? Please explain what you want to test?

To test if your made up cruise control switch works you would connect +12v to the yellow wire (which is the one at the left of the diagram of the Steering switch and connects to one side of all three switches) and use a multimeter to check the voltage on the green and blue wires going to Pins 1 and 2.

Pressing no buttons you should see no voltage between the Blue or green wires and the Negative of your test 12volt supply.

Pressing Set or Resume button you should see 12V on either of the Blue or green wires. Pressing the other one of these buttons should see 12V on the other wire. Pressing the Cancel button you should see 12V on both the green and the blue at the same time. If this happens then your made up buttons are working correctly.

When all is checked out as above there is a small three pin connector in the Steering boss. The yellow wire should be +12v from memory then the other two wires are Green and blue. Green and blue are the Set and Resume wires. I do not remember which is which.
