If you change the diff to a 4.3 rear end youd be sitting on like 3200RPM at 100. Watch as your fuel disappears out the exhaust like crazy.

1St gear redline is 60km in an NA auto.

    Not with my ptu lmao

I think all the power button does is hold the lower gear a bit longer i.e. higher revs, before changing up.
If you are only using your z mostly around town then you probably don't get the chance to look for quick acceleration very often anyway. My NA has more than enough to hold it's own in city and suburban use. Except perhaps for little lightweight buzz cans which take off like scalded rabbits but run out of puff above 60kph.

what does a PTU have to do with gear ratios?

The calculations I used did not take into account the loss in the converter fluid coupling, this is a variable that will increase with trans/converter/fluid age, through loss of fluid properties loss in pump pressure etc.

If I was to include that, I would use a number of about 90% for a trans in good condition. That would make 7000 RPM first gear NA auto 67.5 kph.

If you are watching dials to measure speed and RPM, it will be inaccurate as they are swinging around, you may get lucky at a guess but when +/- 500 RPM and 10 kph makes all the difference and trying to do that while under heavy acceleration approaching the suburban speed limit.

That means in a NA auto you can smash it to the suburban speed limit in its stock form hitting 60 at around 6000-7000 RPM and even allowing for loss through trans age.

OMFG are you telling me the 100's of retards in lab jackets with slide rules and super computers over at Nissan actually got something else right ?

    Ratios are good !

There is a synergy between ECU, diff ratio, gearbox, cams, TC stall, vehicle weight and engine power that has been crafted for all round performance street operation that does not need to be changed.

Making changes will result in expense and loss of all round operational performance.

Why do we value UNMODIFIED cars more highly ? Because we know it ****s with the car, except when it is us in the parts shop being whipped by shiny shit or talking with the boys and going MERF MERF MERF I know boats ! ;)

Not too wrong there bud! I do a mix myself, like most zee drivers I do a lot of driving... So I'm really more than happy with my NA Auto, although I will invest one day in a SAW kit for just that bit more choice.

I work as a parts analyst for new vehicles being released in years to come. Working mainly with ford, the DPS6 transmission (already released) is quite a feet to behold for the money. 6 speed auto, oil for life ( no dipstick or filling req), double clutch (no torque converter), and electronic shifts it's no wonder your focus's and some other small cars are quick little buggers!

Oh nah I was reffering to the 1st gear to 60ks red line, she does want to do that lol, I'm guessing it's my PTU not providing good spark at the right time? Just cleaned my injectors and its running real smooth now! I then tried to hold it second and hard accelerate to 60 but she still at higher rpm's bog down, I'm guessing it's to do with sparks now as everything else is done on the motor
