Well ive finished the 100K and plenum pull, whilst this was done i had my master cylinder rebuilt as it was leaking.. now i bled the brakes as per tech article no bubbles etc, take her off the stands and drive out of the garage... put foot on brake pedal.. foot goes to the floor and no brakes what so ever!!!!

    what have i done wrong?

What happens when you pump your brakes?

Sit there and pump them, what happens?
Does your reservoir empty? If so then youve got a leak still. If it slowly comes up (brake pressure) then likely youve not bled your brakes properly. When finished bleeding the pedal should feel very firm.

Only 2 things I can think of. You should get yourself some speed bleeders. Make things very easy.

I think i havnt bled them correctly then.. i press on the pedal a few times

get a little bit of pressure.. but the nit goes away... the fluid in the reservior goes down say 1cm.. then it rises back up..

    1. You have a leak still

    2. You still have air somewhere in the lines.
    3. You haven't filled the brake fluid to it max level???
Have you checked the brake fluid level again?
Personally, I'd be bleeding them again. I'd put my money on 2.

are there bleed nipples for the master cylinder anywhere... also with

the abs are they the two nipples on top of the unit behind the drivers seat?

only 6 bleed points I think, one per calliper and 2 behind drivers seat

    on the abs unit.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong about this.

When my master cylinder was leaking out the front black cap thing I had

no brakes. It would start of good then it got worse and worse till I had no brakes. Keep pumping the pedal while the car is running and see if the fluid drops down, if it does you have a leak or heaps of air still in the system.

Also are you bleeding the brakes in the correct order? It can be found in the tech section.

I have come to the conclusion that it is my master cylinder..

The reason: All the lines are DEFINATELY free of air bubbles... as my master cylinder was previously leaking i got it re-kitted... they must have done a $hit job and the seals ar'nt holding the pressure..

i might have to agree with you the woody >>

also might be an idea to take the master cyl out and and put the piston out and make sure that some dirt hasnt gottin in there and check the surface or the cyl, make sure the rubber plug is in good nick and installed the right way also, you could check if the seal is good also by filling the master cyl with brake fluid and very slowly pushing in the rod be careful thou it will spit out the oil fairly quickly. other than that take it back to the place that did the re-kit and tell them what the prob is.. hope ya get it sorted soon

    UPDATE: FIXED !!! >>

Firstly Zisluv... u ba$tard :p jjk.... Here's how the day went:

1)Took off master cylinder and took it to get checked by the mob who rekitted it.
2)They rang me back to say everything was fine
3)Bought it back home put it in and tried to bleed it again... no success
    4)Rang a tow truck
5)Took the car to the Stopmasters (the place that rebuilt the master cyl)
    6)They bled it..still not working.
7)They scratched their heads for a bit..ten they realised the problem, when i took off my calipers to paint them i put them on the incorrect side so that the nipples were on the top side thus the air was not getting bled out of the system (good work Ivan u dipshit)
8)They took her for a test drive
9)Returned and they said that the brake booster has carked itself.. the pedal is rock hard with no assistance
    10)Learnt an expensive lesson today

    Sum of costs:
    Master cylinder rebuilt $165
Brake fluid wasted trying to bleed it at home $50
    Getting the car towed $50
Getting them to fix the problem $99
    New Brake Booster $??
More Fluid to bleed the Brakes again $20

So far total is $334 just to get the brakes done..

    Whats wrong with your calipers?

Sorry but I dont understand the bit about the nipples being on top and not being able to get air out of them.

if you put the right caliper on the LHS the bleed nipple goes from the

top side to the bottom side and hence you can't bleed all the air out properly.

Yeah I know, thats what I dont get....

Read this part of his post:
To me that sounds like they were already the right way up and now maybe put on the wrong way by the brake guys???

    woody_z32 New Member

No the brake guys fixed the problem

I had put them on the incorrect way.. thus i wasnt getting a firm pedal after i had bledthe brakes, they took the calipers off then put them on the correct side, thus fixing the problem
