lol zex, you wish you could dedicate time/funds for anythgin near that figger. I think 270rwkw is a good figure for road. You can achieve it with stock turbos/internals too. Not to hard of a job for 270rwkw with the right tune. If you go higher then will depend how you go with handeling it. Then also suspension setup. If you go over 330rwkw I think you will be all over the road and no traction. Due to my new suspension setup and tyres im barly getting traction on gear changes. Chirping a bit! You will have fun with 270rwkw. The Chad is right too!
my opinion.. whats the big deal if you go with something like 500 or 600 hp.. your not going to use it all the time on the street ... because you got 600hp does not mean you are going to be killing it all the time ..(you dont have to floor it ) you can have 600hp and drive the car normal,( whats the big deal ) .. i think if your going to do it . do it big and just turn it down . run 14 15 psi on the street , and when you want turn it up . the last thing you want to do is build a car and have it max out at 300rwkw ( unless that's what you want ) build it to your limit go all the way .. the best build is having the power when you need it . ( is been my way since i started ) there is never really a number on my car it still going big and strong .. i never put numbers on anything . just see how it goes .. not trying to lead you in the wrong direction , just understand that you are going to build something .. look at the best way off doing it , and go for it .... never run something at its full potential , build it stronger and just turn it down . ( power on tap ) and for the street you can run anything you want .. for the most part traction will be your worst enemy slowly fix it all up and of you go ... 270 rwkw is nothing for today, track or street . go as far as you can go and enjoy it
350rwkw is heaps of power and isnt ideal for street conditions, you wont use the power. 600hp is useless ont he street imho....350rwkw is crazy enough as it is to drive. i do agree that if you want say 300rwkw build it to safely hold a heap more than that (say 400rwkw, not even that) and then just run it at 300rwkw.... its better to have a strong and reliable engine in the first place when you have finished your build. do it right the first time
He obviously isnt talking about driving it to church or why wouldnt the power it comes out with be enough , Theres plenty of cars on the road these days that have 250-300rwkw,if you want to play serious,300 is going to be the minimum in this scenario , beast and badxtc are on the ball lol,go big power if the funds can afford it,and turn the mother down,then turn it up if you are late for church A perfect example is when buying a stereo setup,everyone goes for the most powerful,yet we only use it on 50%............

i beg to differ badxtc and lowzx and the best view i can give is im sure both of u remember our legal off street drags with badxtc against that typhoon. badxtc had what like 300rwkw at the time? could he get any traction? well??? yes that typhoon was bloody strong "but" by the time badxtc got traction that typhoon was long gone... now lets say badxtc had something like 270rwkw and got a better launch, i really think he would have had a better chance of taking him on....
It's all about taste isn't it?? Trust me any thoughts of what is "practical" will fly out the window once you start... Figures between 300-350rwkw have been mentioned, this is huge and pretty close to what slot car runs at the track, using just about every trick in the book to try and stick it to the tarmac. Of course how you drive it will also affect outcomes, if you keep it off boost then the car should have the same manners as any other 3L na. But are you really going to throw all that time and money to putter around shifting at 2500rpm?
exactly...all those going for over 301+rwkw for a STREET car is just trying to compensate for having such a small dick...(in badxtc case is only because of your small height lol ) honestly, why have so much power....270-300rwkw is a good amount...and 300rwkw is a HUGE amount for a street car. you rarely get to use all that power on the street if at all legally....if your planning on doing the 'odd' track day, then and only then will you be able to use over 300rwkw...with a race setup for handling/traction, tyres etc........but not on the street
chad you are talking about a race with to very powerful cars on the road ..me and him were not set up for it , he has an auto mine is manual. (from memory he had launch control) yes i had traction problems no doubt, but at the end of the day his car was set up very well for the street and mine is not...... on the other hand .. say i was running 270rwkw at the time ... how would that help me ,, ok so my take off would have MAYBE been a little better .... what would happen after that ... i would have been to slow and it would be hard to catch up .. take off can be fixed anytime ( launch control ) but the power to move the car is what you need this is why going all out ( as much as you can ) is a good way to get the power ..... you seen what the car did at sandown..
wtf r u going on about. the guy did not set his car up for street nor track. he just did usual bolt on mods and a tune.... did not go into setting his suspension up for the street or track or anything... no traction control why the hell did u even take him on if u were not set up. u were going on about it for ages infront of them all and then wen u did he shut u down hard.... and then u bring out the excuses, oh the car is not set up... its not all about power. if u had 270rwkw but got a good launch and kept going strong it would have been a closer match.... u have to remember that his car weighed alot and if u got a nice launch he would have had to catch up. there are many factors that can come into play but if u got a good leap on the 60ft he may have only passed u right at the end.... ye i saw what it did at sandown? what about it we are talking about the power for the street....
