    Hi all,
Was just wondering if anyone has a photo of an air con evaporator?
Just so I know what it looks like. Also does anyone know if they are all interchangable? Eg. I have a NA, auto 2-seater..will they all suit?

Planning on getting the zed booked in on Monday at Dontex to get it installed, is it a whole dash out job? Or can I just remove the glovebox and panels around it?

Looking 2nd hand, put your hand up for the whole airbox. It has the evaporater built into it + the TX valve. It also has the pipework that goes through the firewall from memory.

Basically the next section from the blower motor.

Here is the best pic I can find.
You can see the center blower vents on the RHS, the Evaporator/airbox assembly circled, and the blower would then attach to the LHS

The actual evaporator just looks like a thick radiator (a bit like an inter-cooler maybe)

Further to Renee's questions, I have heard by removing the glove box compartment you can then remove the evaporator. Is this an OK way to remove the evaporator or is it a lot easier with the whole dash out?

    Cheers!

Interested too. As i may have to replace my TX valve.

Ive been told its an easy job via the glove box, however that may be to a person who knows where the bolts/clips all are.

Dash out allows you to see everything. Undesirable though.

Just called dontex, and they said it can all be done with just removing the glove box/bracket and the surrounding panels. The dash can stay in, that was their words..
HOWEVER..they do do a lot of these...so I think they will know where every bolt is hiding

Yes the entire airbox (with evaporator and tx valve assembly)can be removed by taking the glovebox out.
    That's how mine was done

Awesome..just one really important question that you might be able to help me with Greg...
Do you know if it matters that the evaporator is from a TT? To go into my NA?
Cause I know there was a difference between the NA and TT compressor

I'm not 100% certain, but I can't see why not. Apart from the compressor and surrounds, from the firewall back the cars are the same.
There may be a difference between climate control and manual control systems perhaps.

Sounds like another call to Dontex is required RE: evaporator differences between TT/NA and Auto/Manual climate control systems ;)

That's good it's only the glovebox...whole dash out is a big job!

    Cheers!

The evaporator may well be the same, but possibly the air-box would be different between climate control and non climate control models.

Just to add to this thread...zed is fixed
There was no difference between the NA and TT evaporator :)...as I just had a TT evaporator installed in my NA zed and its working well :zlove:
