The ECU may not listen for detonation above a certain RPM, but once you are into knock maps, then you are stuck there until you restart the engine...
I know this is late, but yes the evaporator and associated plumbing etc can be removed from under the glovebox without removing the dash.
Forward plan how many ponies you are wanting to achieve in the long run. Let that guide you on injector size/vs cleaning and checking the stock...
Although posted as a funny, who was the member that suggested using a Dyno to spin up the wheels to check for drive line vibration :)

100% spot on. If your radiator and Trans Cooler are working well, then series with a filter is the way to go.
It's easier with 2 people, the forementioned tools, and the battery out.
Note I said "easier". :)

an 80 degree cut-in temp will mean it's running pretty much all the time once you reach operating temps
probably a fair price if it includes a reconditioned compressor
