My 1990 Z32 300ZX TT is now finally finished to what i've always wanted in a Zed!! No need for more! When I first became a member of this awesome forums back in March 2003 I was driving a black 90 Z32 NA. I was one of the very few zed owners in Tasmania back in the days...Always loved them since I knew what a Z was. So I imported the NA from Japan. Was 16 at the time, so money factor was low. Modified it lighty with a set of 17's, 2.5" exhaust, manifolds, unifilter and a big alpine stereo....That kept me happy as Larry for just over a year and a half when my REAL want for my perfect Z hit me!! So I sold up the NA (made a huge profit being Tassie and rare lol) and found myself a local immaculate 90' TT with only 79k on the clock. Was purchased off a forum member at the time, and then my visions of my perfect Z was in my sights. NA behind...my new TT infront. The TT was stock as a rock with only a set of Sparco Racing 17's and a RUSH 02 filter. I didnt hesitate and started putting things into motion and ordered a UAS front bar in the first week of new ownership. That kept the looks department ok for the meantime. I then swapped the Rush 02 filter which was getting quite old with a Apexi Power intake. The exhuast was next and I managed to score a brand new Apexi 2.5" steel exhaust from dumps back and Apexi Supermegaphone mufflers, so now the sound was taken care of .. Things went quiet for a month or two then the need to go faster was getting best of me....so next I ordered a FMIC, 555cc Nismo injectors and a Wolf 3d engine managment system and went for a dyno tune. Things went well and the car pulled 239rwkw on a stock motor. With winter setting in I went back for another tune for the cooler climates and told him to push it to the apsolute limits and get EVERY single KW outta the VG....managed to get 245rwkw and then BANNNNGGGGG....The headgasket blew and also smashed the rings on 3 pistons. We suspect the engine was either flogged to death prior or the speedo was wound back....but who would know as the car was in pristine condition. OHHHH WELLL I said...good excuse to go all out and build a good strong motor!! I told my mechanic to get everything to make it a tuff, brand new engine to hold a decent amount of HP.... I'll cut this story short now hahaha cuz im getting hell tired.. ICE was next on my list and I went shopping for quality components. 3 and a half grand later I was rolling with awesome quality audio and visuals. Interior had to keep me feeling like I was in a real sports car which is what the Zed is so little touches was added to bling it up slightly without any crazy interior changes or large splash's of colour. Where I live, there are some fantastic twisty and challenging roads so I wanted to hug those corners like I was on rails so suspension was taken care off. Bomex skirts and a new set of 18" rims finished off the exterior as clean and tuff was my goal (sorry boys so veilside was OUTTA the question) Im almost sleeping on the keyboard now so here is my complete mod list that i've done to the car from a completely stock zed! I do agree how it can be all never ending with the Z but hey im happy cruisin what i've got.. I've still got a 3rd brake light and a bomex rear bar hidden away downstairs in storage :zlove:
thanks I was considering selling the zed, but you have given me some inspiration. thanks mate, PS it looks great:zlove:
Ahh...I'm jealous of you. I'm kinda on the same steps as you were, just sold my NA, and looking for more power from a TT. I do hope and have plans to make the TT a keeper, something individual and unique and very cool and envy-inducing. I mean, people at work were drooling over the totally stock NA already..imagine a properly done up TT
cheers on the comments guys Yeah the feeling is great!! My last mod was the coilovers which I finished putting in yesterday....I dumped it to the ground and went for a cruise.... Drove past a massive building with mirror tint on the windows, I looked over and saw how the zed was sitting and the feeling was fastastic. The inspiration I got while building my car was from DUB's ride as i've been following his build from almost day 1 and his mate RISKZ. Both of those cars made me do what i've got 2day so cheers to them!! I didnt want a show car...I didnt want a full custom interior....just somthing that was nice to drive and to put a grin on my face. For those people who say they wont finish their cars for years yet....its not ment to be a thing that you do overnight.....as I think you will enjoy it more after the time and the hard yards have been done. I've got a fair few parts i'll be selling aswell....didnt use them in the end Full blue vinal interior trim kit (suit 2 seater) Full set of Indiglo 300km IDIALS kit to suit TT and NA (has a 300ZX logo where the boost gauge is for the NA boys, brand new) Koni adj shocks (got about 8 - 9,000km on them) Quick release steering wheel hub (brand new) Apexi stand to suit AVCR, SAFC RSM etc (brand new) Used unifilter (almost new condition and clean with full bottle of UNIFILTER oil) Heaps of spares that I replaced with aftermarket parts like stock intake pipes, stock fuel hardlines (good to polish) etc i'll be selling these cheap as chips since I have utter NO use for them Cheers Ben
wow very nice man reading this is getting me so excited for my babie haha got few questions for you how much money you spend on it ? how manny kw you got hehehe :zlove: :zlove:
where did you get your gapless rings from for the acl forged pistons? I've never heard of ACL 'RaceSpec' Pistons.... Are you talking about ACL Hyperlites?
One of the best zeds on the forum And one of the most cleanest, always been a fan of yours mate, she looks the goods!
finished? the Zed is never finished mate! you left out one important detail. how much power did you make in the end?
Ben is lying, it is not finished... He still needs to install the turbo kit, tune etc... As Pete said, it is never finished. You'll need some adjustable camber arms front and rear now Ben. Also, I think a new set of rims would finisher her off :zlove:
