I took my zed out recently and it started missing, backfiring and wouldn't idle. By the time i got it home it was running pretty bad and died if i hit boost. I've tried to restart it since and its dead. it turns over and now and again it'll fire on one cylinder. My first thoughts were PTU but thanks to ZDUCTIV he let me try his S2 and it hasn't made any difference. Does anyone have any idea's what it might be? you can hear the fuel pump prime up before you crank it over and the fuel filter was changed only a few hundred ks ago. I'm going to check for spark next but have to wait till i have a second pair of hands.
    Any idea's?

    Hmmm

Does it suddenly stop Bren?, like a sudden/shock stop and wont go after a certain rev range?, if so my afm died on me a while ago and caused this to happen, couldn't idle either, similar symptoms but maybe completly different....

    Timing belt?

Auto-tensioner may have failed. Before cranking her again, eliminate possibility of timing belt gear failure by pulling top covers off [undo top bolts & pry covers back to access] and check belt tension between cam gears.

If TB OK, look at a temporary AFM and/or CAS swap/replacement to identify problem.

It could be the Vein pressure sensor....i don't have a AFM. i have a spare CAS to try. i have checked there's fuel up to the fuel filter. If the fuel regulator died would that stop feeding the fuel to the motor?
The motor still turns over perfectly fine...if it was the timing belt wouldnt a piston be hitting the valves? also the 100k service was done 25,000ks ago.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

My money's on the crank angle sensor, but here's something simple to check. A while back a member had a similar problem which turned out to be a new fuel filter mounted BACKWARDS!

will.i.am updtd garage! chek it out

wouldnt be timing belt coz it was dying on boost... sounds to me like an AFM problem...ive seen it happen on a S15 and a RX-7.........best bet is to hook it up to conzult

another member had a similar problem and it turned out to be

his altenator, but that wont explain the misfire. Sounds like a cas issue. Check coil packs whilst your at it.

Post # 1000. Sorry to hijack.

Easy check for the AFM. disconnect it and start the car.
