Thats true ^^ the place i go to is imports 101, its close to where i live and they've never done me wrong, they do all of it for me from servicing to mods, and one of the mechanics there used to own a zed and always talks to me about it.
They always stick close to their qoutes too so i know how much money i need.

I got no real bad places, the only other place i've been to is xspeed where they quoted me a LOT to do my water pump and radiator hoses, now i just stick with the one place.

I missed this thread back in March. I use Precise and wouldn't hesitate to recommend people to go there. Ive heard plenty of bits of pieces that happens with any mechanics, but Ive never heard anyone tell me they have talked to Dave directly and it hasn't been sorted. Ive found him not only to be very knowledgeable but also very upfront and honest.

Unlike Speedworks who I wouldnt recommend. Not only tried to overcharge me but also their customer service was shocking. When I had issues with their poor work AJ was literally running around the workshop to try and avoid talking to me about it. Would of been funny if it wasnt so pathetic. The other managers solution to the problem was that it wasnt his problem. Definitely wouldnt recommend you let them touch your car, although I admit AJ does a nice tune.

West Racing in Osborne park. Well its their tune that blew my engine. What more can be said. I found some of the mechanics there didnt have the first clue about forced induction.

TO MAKE IT CLEAR TO ALL AND TO BE FAIR TO SPEEDWORKS:

Speedworks is under new ownership and has been so for about a year - the only thing that carried between old management and new management is the name. All staff (except Rob) are different - different mechanics, different tuners, different management.

EBC is easy easy easy. FMIC would probably take me longer to do.

Be aware that when you up the boost, you ARE going to need a new clutch. Mine lasted 2 days before it started slipping.

    Mmm.. Who would I recommend.

Noone yet. Just haven't had anyone meet my expectations.

I can't believe that Precise won't supply you with a copy of the invoice. Have you ever told us what was done to the car and how much it cost? If you say that you don't have a one piece drive shaft then I believe you 100% but what did you have done? I'm also not saying that Precise are a rip off - I get my work done there and I'm happy about 75% of the time (I'm a fussy bastard!). When I go back and politely have my whinge, I get my other 25%.

Can't speak from personal experience, but they support a fair few drift cars in the WA Competition that do well and seem to finish every comp!

Drifting isn't exactly easy on a car!

Unfortunately, any mechanical workshop is only as good as their current employee base.
Doesn't matter how good or bad their past reputation is to a certain extent .
And sometimes we as customers, will only supply a glorified version of events too, and even if we are supplying an accurate version of events, it's only one side to a story.
Not that I don't think some of the posts here have merit, I do!
We just need to be careful what is said about other people/businesses and their actions.
This thread is being watched by mods. A collective decision will be made as to whether the thread can be retained or not, in the interests of the forum from a legal standpoint.

I personally spoke to Dave. He would NOT give me a bill or even a quote on repairs til the bill was slapped under my face. He would NOT refund for the dyno tune after failing to install the AFC correctly.

He is lucky I noticed the brake pads were the wrong way round later down the track!! Would have throttled him on the spot!!! Brakes should not be f#*ked with unless you know what you are doing and they clearly did not.

Will only go back there to spit on the place and that ain't worth the fuel :bash: :zlove:

    Cheers

LOL that was I very old post....

I have subsequently installed the FMIC, pretty easy to do, the EBC however is waiting for some other things to arrive first - ie new boost guage, temp guage etc...

    If you only knew zisluv

I remember taking my zed to dave for the first time and you beast was there. I asked him about it and he said you were a doctor blah blah and then said you had far more money then talent and commented that franz was the only one to have driven the car properly, but even he didn't keep the boot in at the drags. Nice guy.

Thats suprising Ollie. Cant say Ive met a nicer mechanic than Dave. I'm sure I do have more money than talent :) but that wouldnt be a nice thing to be saying. Anyway, I can only go on my experiences and I'd still definately recommend him, no problems. Will have the results of my latest build very shortly which will really speak for Daves work itself.

LOL - had I kept the boot in at the drags, it would have gone home on the back of a tilt tray - because I got out of it, I didnt completly roast the clutch and Nathan got to drive his zed home. Funny how he made that comment cos he changed the clutch on it after that drag meet if I remember correctly - he would have seen how shagged it was!

I've had issues with Dave both professionally and then later on personally where he decided to pass something on that I told him in confidence. I chose not to go there for any advice or mechanical work.

It was fortunate the clutch went also. The fly wheel was crack tested as I was going to give it to someone else to use. The comment from the shop who tested it was that they didnt know how it was still in 1 piece. It was basically ready to fly apart. New OS Giken twin carbon and light weight fly wheel has fixed these issues anyways. Fingers crossed and all goes well its going to be making 700+ rwhp, you up for another run then Franz?

2nded Greg - What members need to remember

is that forum moderators can be held liable for defamation by the named workshops (even if they didn't post the threads) by not taking action these sorts of threads. (guilty by failure to act).

So lets just say it for the record.

The moderators of the aus300zx forum are in no way acknowledging, agreeing with, condoing or promoting any comments made in this thread that may be considered liable by third parties.

As usual the best course of action is to follow up with the company in the first instance, if no resolution is made, then contact the appropriate state authorities. Comments like the above should be considered a last resort.

PS: I'm NOT defending any of the above workshops (I don't even know them) and i would most likely feel the same way as the customers...
