My Speedo needle is all the way to the right. I pulled it out and re-did all the solder joints. It didn't look like it worked. The speedo needle was stuck on 0 and I somehow got the tacho neeedle all the way to the right. But after some spirited driving on the way home. Both the speedo and tacho worked correctly. I then didn't drive the car for a week, and it reverted to this state. Any ideas? I looked at prices for a replacement cluster. NA ones were $150-$200, But the TT ones were $300+ What's the deal with that?

It may be more than simply solder joints at fault: check out the images on the TT Net link for problems associated with the mounting points for components on the board for example. It would be really handy too for you to use a multimeter to check continuity as you go. Remember any cluster you might buy second hand will possibly be around the same age and inherit the same problems, so worth a shot to look bit longer Cheers , Andy
Dod you get any results with this, as mine has done the same thing? Just when I hit 70klms the needle raises to 140klms, and drops back to this position under 70klms.
