Of late for some reason I really want another Z32. I haven't even seen any I on the road for months so I don't know where this urge comes from.
I sold my NA about 8 years ago. This morning I was doing a rego check on it and the plates didn't come up.
I can't afford a third car, but the thought of having another mint one would be so great.
You can't enjoy driving them on the road, or use the hp they have legally.
So why do you have one and why should I not get another one.
Not quite old enough for a mid life crisis either.
I think it's mostly sentiment as this is the car I had in my 20s when life was simple.

Careful, thinking about something usually turns that something into reality.

I window shop on carsales.com.au 5 days a week when I'm bored at work. There's a lot of stuff on there I think would be "nice to have" but does not equal "should".

If you just want to relive the good old days it sounds very much like midlife crisis mentality, times have moved on and the Z32 won't bring it back. Save your money and spend it when you actually hit midlife.

Don't worry about Mike, he's only just sold so maybe his tune will change in 8 years time too! Mind you he's got some other nice keys to grab in the mean time...
Now that these can go on club plates at least it makes it much cheaper as a third car option & they're still reasonably cheap to pick up

On club rego almost any car makes sense so long as you can afford to buy and store it. I recently looked into buying a new trailer but the $$ started to get out of hand . I found a whole ute for $500 plus $50 rego and i can drive it 60 times a year. It's the best $500 braked 1400kg trailer i've ever seen and cost $100 less to register per year. Hmmm, now what other 30 year old cars do i "need"?

I've had similar thoughts Max! One in excellent original condition would be the go, but thin on the ground these days.

I'm sure the good memories would dissapear when the heater core shits itself, or the targa seals leak in a big storm and flood the carpet :p

Aren't there restrictions on driving on club plates? Need to log book every trip?

Yes It’s not for a daily driver , you are restricted to 60 days usage per year or every Saturday and a few sundays per year. I don’t think I have driven my ZX 60 times in 3 years.
You must fill out a log book . The book is simply an a4 sheet of paper with a few details to write in. You must be able to produce it if asked by the police. it’s probably 1 minutes work while the car is warming up.

Are there restrictions on what you can use it for though?

re registering a ute on club plates for weekly runs to the tip lol

Well i forgot to mention that you must be a member of a car club which cost another $50 to join in my case. I don't think it expires.
No limitations were mentioned by either the club or the RTA other than the total amount of uses per year.
The club does specify that modifications need to be engineered.
Now one thing that struck me as odd was the RTA asked me at the time of rego if i wanted to do the 'LOG BOOK TRIAL'' i said why is it called a trial and she said thats a good question i don't know. i am guessing but she made it sound like there might be more than 1 type of club rego. Either way i was happy with the terms of the log book trial, it was almost closing so i didn't push her to look into options.

Just to be clear my life is a mess but i don't go to the dump weekly. :)

Yes there are restrictions such as joining an historic or classic car club etc. as JB mentioned in order to qualify for the club plate system. But funnily enough, I've seen a lot of clapped out 26 year old utes and work vans getting around Bendigo with club plates on them these days. Can't verify if they're on the way to or from the tip though, sorry :)

Your life will never be that simple again. I voted yes. Buy yourself a TT before they all get murdered :)

Mint Zeds? You're more likely to find an N/A that's still looking factory fresh.
Enjoying TT's on the road? Fit an EBC with multiple programmable boost levels from Grandma through to Learner Driver Son up to Angry Dad. And fit some fat grippy EXPENSIVE tyres.
You're old enough to "drive to suit the conditions" as in don't go WOT through a wet roundabout on Angry Dad boost levels :D
Either option, they qualify for Classic car status so you could get much reduced rego fees. You're in VIC yeah? I'm paying $70.00 per year for 45 driving days per year and I can upgrade to 90 driving days at any time through the year for an extra $75.00 Insurance will be reduced too, but shop around with that one.

Might be a good way to register an old camper van. You could go on 2 months holiday a year for next to nothing. So long as you like the smell of an old mouldy camper.

Ouch! Three hunnert fiddy per corner for me on stock rims a few years ago.
From mine it's a 25 minute drive to Heathcote Park Dragway. You couldn't not go. You just couldn't.
