Hey Guys, As per the title, has anyone tried a non-genuine Air Flow Meter? I can see they are sold as upgrades for the Silvia/180SX vehicles and as replacement units for our Zs. It appears that they are selling in descent quantities on eBay but I'm wondering if anyone has actually fitted one to the Z? Any thoughts?
Yes mate I did get one from czp, then ended up getting a genuine part. The car didn't run at all well, ie, stalling, ruff hunting idle, imo, dont do it. Ebay may be selling a different product, check the feedback.
A spare parts supplier I know bought a batch of them a few years ago ....... they tested them all and they were wildly inconsistent, AND none of them were within spec
Thank you gents. The Z is scheduled for tuning this Saturday and was wondering if to stick with Genuine AFM or go aftermarket. Also, the non genuine sensor housing is plastic where as the Genuine units are metal. I'll stick with genuine. Thank you for sharing.
The guys told me the fakes were deadset carbon copies, even down to the PCB layout But obviously, they must have been using shit electronic components in the boards
Once upon a time most things where well made. If it was cheap it lacked features not quality. Now everything has a million features and has no quality. No one has ever gone to the 3rd world and said '' How well can you make it". They all asked "How cheap can you make it" Quality was not ever part of the conversation. Thats why everything is crap these days.
I had a fake one many years ago, was told it was real and the voltages were completely wrong, the car won't run right. You'll know straight away if you were sold a fake. Don't waste your time with them.
That should read as, yes mate I did get one from ebay, then ended up getting a genuine part from czp.
