Hi guys. Have anyone done this swap in Aus? I'd be keen to chat as I am considering the swap, but a turbo version.

You'd want to have a talk to Ztoy then. Doing exactly that.

    Hi mate...
I've done one recently fits in very well ... not too hard to do. Castlemaine rod shop makes a mounting kit.

    Thanks guys.
Woo05H, did you use the the TT gearbox and get an adapter kit?
Also did you retain the LS1 accessories?

    I used the t56 6 speed with mine .
I used all the ls1 accessories... I put a under driven pully kit on the ls1 and a flow restrictor in the power steering pump to match the z32 rack...

I had a custom tailshaft made up to suit..
I used a r230 rear end.. the 3.69 ratio goes very well with the ls1 with the 6 speed box...

I never installed the a.c. in mine as mine's a dedicated drift car.

It's not a overly hard conversion to do..

Yes, there must have been a number of people who’ve done this in Australia as There’s been three LS swapped 300ZXs for sale on Gumtree lately. A red one in WA, and two white ones on the east coast (maybe Vic and NSW?). Only one is still listed - white one, cloth interior, automatic transmission, Castleman Rod Shop conversion kit and engineered.

What did you do for your clutch master cyliner? where it hits the RH head?

    Hey mate,

I used a compact wilwood mastercyclder you need a larger bore one anyway for the t56 slave cyclinder.

I just made a adapter plate for mounting it.

Because the wilwood cyclinder it's also shorter it doesn't hit , however you need to relocate the rear coil pack and remove one mounting lug off the rocker cover....

Some people on ls into s chassis notch the rocker cover.

I'll post you up some photos in about a hour or so

I initially thought a LS conversion was crazy. id still rather pop the bonnet and see a twin turbo v6 with DOHC than a pushrod v8 but i think the v8 would spend more time with the bonnet shut and out driving in the long run. If it's also 40kgs lighter on the front axle and you can buy a kit to get the hard stuff done then its a winner if you ask me.

It's deffinently a nice car to drive with the ls in it handles really well and deffinently turns heads.....
Heaps of room in the bay....

But still the vg has it's place....cant go past a tt as a street car in my opinion...

In saying that I have one of each and b o th have there perks

How much power do you need from the LS? i cant imagine a 240kw 5.7 is enough when coming from a TT

I've only got a standard ls1 with a maffles flash for now,But it deffinently need a cam to give it more poke.
It's a different kinda fast but also I'm running a tt diff so 3.69 ratio with the t56 6 speed box so make it reasonably fast.

Gearing is everything. The v8 probably makes more power sooner and it could be a quicker car overall despite the peak figure being lower. I have a love hate relationship with my laggy vgtt. It's funny in a straight line. It's no fun at all in the corners. Overall i don't like the car that much, the balance is way off.
