For anyone that has standard ride height or someone that Knows 100%

What is the Standard ride height from wheel center to peak of wheel arch?

I can't measure ground clearance as my cars park on uneven ground... and where is that measurement taken from anyway?

I have two Z32 cars. One feels lowered. The other definitely is. Both were bought the way they are.

370mm from center to wheel arch (all four corners) Standard looking suspension

340mm from center to wheel arch (all four corners) Coil-overs. (garage creeper barely fits under the front lip.)

Searching I did find a comment in 2010 from "ztoy" He said "I was a king springs the other day and their
lowered height was F-370mm R-360mm from center of the wheel to lip of guard. Their lowered height is -20mm so I would think that stock height is F-390mm R-380mm "

So from that comment I gather both my cars are lowered; as the higher one is 370mm. Is it the case also that Front and rear are meant to be two different heights?

R370mm F360mm is the standard height on a TT (hub to wheel arch)

I remember reading somewhere that the NA was 10mm higher all round but I can't verify that because I've never owned an NA

Ground clearance (in NSW) is 100mm and the easiest way to check is by putting a house brick on its side and sliding it under the car .......... you can push it with a broom to verify clearances everywhere under your car (especially the exhaust)

From last zedfest, lowrider award, as measured on flat ground, sum of all 4 corners ground to wheel arch, the winner was Ryan, total 2569mm.

Seems I only kept the lowest 3 car measurements.

Not helpful, but gives you an indication of low. I was 3rd with 2605mm, and I wouldn't consider my car very low.

So the 2010 quote of King springs "lowered height was F-370mm R-360mm" would mean that an Non turbo could be lowered to Turbo's standard, but King springs couldn't lower the Turbo car.
    ------
Those measurement for low rider seem weird to me. For one it seems to be missing a decimal point.
As the numbers add up to 2.5/2.6 meters.:p
To apply those number with decimal point (26.5cm) from wheel center to wheel arch. On my lowered car that would put the front lip at a 2cm and 1.7 cm off the ground. If the exhaust sits lower on the car than the front lip. It would be scraping on the ground. That is Very Low.

As stated, they were measured from ground to arch. All 4 corners measured and added up.

    IB ?????

Doing rough calculation on tyre size, Ryan would have had an average of about 32 cm between centre of wheel and wheel arch.

King springs use their standard height spring on the front of the TT and give you the choice of standard or low for the rear

They make a low front spring for the NA but it's a special order

I used to run F340mm & R330mm but it just wasn't practical on country roads (or carparks ) I added 20mm all round and I've never regretted it

You have to decide if you want a zed to drive, or you just want one to look cool in the carpark

Agree, my car is 20mm lower all round, and is a pain ita, you have to watch where your driving at all times, nfg.

Sorry, I over looked the added up bit. Makes more sense now. :D

Since the turbo height seems to be cleared up. What about Non turbo height standard?

You can't take it to a parking lot and measure?

FSM states (Front/Rear, mm from ground to wheelarch):

    675/676 (NA 2+0)
675/675 (TT 2+0, note this is for a US spec one with the smaller wider rear wheel)

    677/675 (NA 2+2)
???/??? (TT 2+2, not listed in US FSM)

Top up tyre pressure and do math to compensate for non-stock wheel sizes. A little lower than those numbers would be expected for 30 yr old shocks.

Where in the FSM does it state the measurements? As my; Publication SM0E-oZ32Go FSM doesn't appear to have that information in:General Information, Maintenance, Front Suspension or the Rear Suspension sections.

    Never mind I found it.

The joys of early publications Lacking Information.

The downloaded later years of scanned FSM's have the wheel arch height measurements written on the Front Suspension's S.D.S page.

Roger that. I actually printed out the entire first draft FSM in 2010, around 1,184 pages!

I was grateful for it, it got me started, but I've made a tit of myself a few times by asking stoopid questions that were already answered in the later versions of the FSM.

Gah, it's coming down to tribal lore for these cars :)

I've added slip in pages from other FSM years and glued in bits of extra info, for my applicable year models to my actual Australian FSM.

Yes this! I'm still cutting out - literally, with scissors - bits of single page printouts from the 1994 & 1996 FSM pages and sticky taping them into my printed first issue FSM. And using highlighter markers left over from when the kids were in school. Gah, it's like I've gone back to pre-school :D

Amen mate. These cars were made to be enjoyed, not to be agonized over.

There's been some good info posted here, I've learned some new tricks. My contribution -
If you're on standard / OEM rims, know that the Z centre cap in your rims is 54 mm in diameter.
So rather than eye-balling where the centre of the cap is, measure from the top of the Z cap to the guard lip then add 27 mm.

Im still confused, I need to raise the front of my car so if I fit KDFS-86 springs to the front of my car will it be lowered or standard height (twin turbo). Say I had oem front springs I fit king springs the ride height would be exactly the same?

Beaver, we need to bring nfg back into popular use mate.
I've worn out many sharpies writing NFG on bad parts, bad assemblies, and failed ideas :)

( for the kiddies, NFG means No Fckn Good )

Hi, I'm Ryan and that was my Z that won the lowrider award in 2018. I'm running just over 1" lower than stock on adjustable coilovers, however I do have larger than stock OD wheels, plus running around 5 degress of camber on the front which also lifts it slightly as the tire rolls on to the sidewall.

I just went and checked my completely stock Aus-spec and would agree with the 675/675 measurements listed in the FSM. King springs likely would be baselining against the Aus figures so I'd say KDFS-86 would get you to 675mm with a stock rim and tyre. I couldn't find how much of a drop the lowered kings give but would assume 20mm. I've found them to be pretty good with sharing information in the past though so I'm sure a quick email or call would get the answer if you wanted a drop.

And for those poo-poo'ing a low z, this thing was my daily for a number of years. I did 4000km for that Zedfest going from Central Qld through inland NSW down to Armidale, then on to Canberra before returning home via Sydney. Roo's were much more of an issue than being low.
