Hi I have a 90 NA. Under the bonnet reads AG2. Autobarn mixed up some touch up which was called red berry. It seems a tad light in colour any ideas? thanks
Google NISSAN Paint Code AH2. Nissan AH2 is generally referred to as Burgandy Pearl Metallic. Perhaps they have mixed AH3 which is a lighter colour called Cherry Red Pearl Metallic. Is there any possibility your car may have been resprayed by a previous owner?
pics may give it away . nose (good paint) is darker than rear end (good paint) bonnet fenders and doors seem to be cherry metallic painted over with a version of AG2 then blended. Good times. I may just coat the bonnet, fenders and doors with Autobarn Red Berry and 2k clear to get some what of a match.
Red will fade over time and you won't be able to match it on code only, will need to bring a sample of existing paint to a paint place for them to mix it up. I had the exact problem many years ago getting the car resprayed.
This, the clear coat also affects how the colour looks and that degrades faster on red cars too because physics
Red colours are one of the worst for fading - so as mentioned they need to be colour matched.... Also there are different variations depending on the year they were used and the vehicle line - AH3 for nissan has at least 5 variations that I have seen and 3 for Kenworth - all colours are a slight change on the original and come out quite different.... I use AH3 as that is the colour of mine but I have seen 7 and more variations of a single colour used by a single manufactorer and that is simply because of the length of time it was used and the different recipies they used over those years... When you go to somewhere like super cheap or paint place to get a colour from the code they should mix up the orignal/default colour but often that is wrong - its just the first version of that code put out by that paint maufacturer if it turned out to be crap or the colour got changed slightly in the year your car was made..... well you get the idea
