    Hi Guys.
So i want to de-power my power steering rack.
I have came across this old thread with a step by step, but the pics are no longer working, can probably figure it out but am wondering if anyone knows of another guide with active pics?

    Cheers.

I am pretty sure I remember the thread you are talking of - but it would be the only one I know of in the nearly 10 years I have been here

Why do you want to depower it?
Remove the factory pump and install an Astra electric pump.

    Don’t need power steering.
Not in a steer car, so as much weight saving as possible is a bonus

Is there any benefit in going reverting to non powered steering? Has anyone got any dyno figures before and after?
I'm interested to learn more about the electric option though. Is there a thread on this?

I wouldn’t imagine there would be a power advantage.

No real power benefit, maybe a little while actually turning.
Benefit is simplifying the engine bay, removal of all the old leaking power steering hoses.
And makes pushing the car around the pits easier without having to start the engine ;)
