Hi Guys - Had a coolant leak around the drivers side turbo. I did a plenum pull and completed a coolant bypass replacing all the old hoses. Fired her up again, she runs great but the original coolant leak is still there! The leak is dripping onto the bottom of the 'J' coolant hardline but I just cannot see the source. I did replace the hose that connects to the 'J' hardline. I can't trace the leak back to its source but I presume its from the coolant hardlines that go to the drivers side turbo. Any idea's on where the leak is? Is it possible to access and replace the 2 turbo coolant hardlines without removing the engine? The picture shows a red circle where the leak is dripping from on the 'J' coolant hardline. I just can't see the source of the leak! Any feedback is much appreciated ! Cheers Jason
Rusted pipe, worn crush washers, or maybe you missed the leaking hose? There are two on that side; the longer one and then the short molded one. Did you reuse the OEM clamps? If you can beg/borrow/steal a cooling system pressure tester it will make locating the leak a hell of a lot easier.
Looks like I have a similar problem, just finished putting the engine and gearbox back in, have replaced all the coolant hoses at the back of the engine, noticed a couple of drips when running the engine while cold from somewhere above the passenger turbo, stopped once it warmed up (or was evaporating before I could see the drips). Anyway pressure tested it cold tonight, sure enough very slow drips from somewhere up behind the engine. Of course it's impossible to see where it's dripping from, and it's impossible to get up in there to fix it anyway. So gearbox has to come out again. So much for doing a track day this month
