My insurer is no longer offering insurance(just cars) and I need some options my car is a JDM import twin turbo which most companies won't cover. AAMI sent me a quote but their excess is $1225 which seems killer high to me. I will look at shannons but was interested in what other people have. Thanks

If its just 3rd party, checkout what you bank will do for you. usually their rates are cheap as.

Just got my discovery insured with Famous. Their price on the 300zx was pretty good too.

1200 for an excess isnt too bad really. I guess you are under 25?

I should have said 3rd party property, my last excess was about $400 from memory, and I'm 40 so I'm out of the young hoon age group.

If it's a second car then check out the nrma veteran, vintage, classic cover (racv offer it in vic, I'm on it myself) full comp with agreed value for the price of 3rd party. Can't be your primary car though & limited to 9000km a year. Otherwise if it's your only car check out shannon's definitely (believe they don't do under 25's though if that's an issue)

    cheers, Tim

edit: just saw your post, age not an issue with shannons then!

Mate, I just did this recently. NRMA was the cheapest by a mile. It cost an extra $6 month for fire and theft for $10000 cover. So I got it as well. I think my monthly premium was about $30.

Wow just checked my renewal from aami that it went to from Just Cars and noticed it does not state what the excess is . Holy shit will have to make a phone call. Sneaky ****nts. Why do insurance company's find the need to do things like this and not just be straight up at what they are offering instead on using fine print hidden somewhere else. You would think the excess would be as important to know as the premium ?.Also considering they are offering to take the policy straight over in replacement of the other policy one would automatically think you would be getting the same offer and if not it would be written what the differences are bright and clear.
    Cheers

Shannons the only ones i deal with, got 3 cars and a house with them. Zed covered for 20k, salvage rights and premium just under $400. That is only because I only drive it once or twice a month

Well I just got transferred to Shannon's after JustCars demise and the paperwork I got from Shannon's was offering me $13000 agreed value full comp with $625 excess all for a pretty decent fee of $990 a year. Not bad, but after they rang me and I told them all my mods list (of about $30-$40k) they had to revise the policy and they told me under normal circumstances they wouldn't insure my daily driven Z because Its parked on the street every night. But because my policy is being transferred over and I am agreed to the same agreed value as before they allowed it for an extra $100 a year more compared to the old policy annual fee.

I was pretty happy with that. My theft excess isn't great but as long as the car doesn't get stolen I should be sweet. Knock on wood.:zlove:

A&G sent me an email inviting me to test their insurance for value. They must know I have insurance with them because they sent it to me by name and expect me to log in.
They also offer the incentive of $10,000 cash competition.

    This was the result. ...

and below that message a link to show me a list of their competitors. I have never made an at fault claim

I've had both my Lotus' insured with Lumley's which I have been happy with. Worth a call but will need to be securely garaged.
